Description Can't put the movie file on DA so this one is on Youtube as well, but this time I drew it in the computer. [link]

This assignment required the class to create a puppet in Photoshop and animate it in After Effects using the puppet pin tool. Weirdest concept ever. This process basically requires you to warp a drawing in order to make it move but the pins are fickle and they make the image look like rubber. Took about roughly 12 hours of work, including puppet and background building. I kept the background simple after getting a little too excited with the character but that didn't save me from falling into a walk cycle. There's much to be fixed in this but I only had about a week and there are midterms coming up.

It has sound effects like the last animation. (My roommate put some in hers so I had to step it up.)

I don't recommend animation in After Effects... it's not as organized as Flash.

You should be able to put the movie file on dA...? I'd double check the FAQ.

Ha ha, mine's going to be nowhere near as good as this is. XD 8C

I tried but I'm not sure where to categorize it. Most of the options I chose were telling me the file was not acceptable.

Awww, what is your project? Or shall you leave it a surprise for me tomorrow?

At least you like it, even though my dino's walk is a little quick and weightless. Kris did a swaying/ dancing tree creature and she kept shaking her head at my animation enthusiasm. XD "Why do you kill yourself? You must love pain."

We animators embrace the pain like an old friend. XD

The due date for this project is this Thursday but I'm guessing my grade will either be an A or a B as long as I completed all my instructor's requirements. Might get docked on the walk cycle though.

Aw, what for? D: Is it just because it's a simple animation or were y'all told not to do that?

It's because it doesn't have a believable enough walk.

He did like the animation but there were issues here and there that didn't make the viewer feel like the character was real.

This is nicely done, and I like the designs, yet the walking animation seems a little strange...

The walk itself is too fast for the size of the animal and the warping effect is just weird in general. If I knew how to animate in After Effects I would have fixed that. I put the dinosaur on a path so he's constantly sliding forward and it seemed like he was moving too fast for the legs to keep up so I inserted baby steps thinking it would look better than giant steps that slid on the ground.

If I had more time I'd address these glaring issues. xD

That's so cool! *is easily impressed* I love the orange on the black, it's all glowy~ But what is the little puffball? I keep thinking "OMG the Dino ate a bunny!"

Scyrel In reply to Thil-Galel [2013-02-20 14:16:55 +0000 UTC]

The puffball is a small rodent-like critter; it's just as ambiguous as the dinosaur since the species isn't clearly defined. I just made lifeforms that have glowing tribal all over their bodies. 8|

He had to chase something or else it would just be a walk cycle and the walk cycle is pretty derpy as it is.
