Description
Roasting one of my favorite villains. (because, Mark Hamill)This would have taken place in the beginning, not too long after Razor woke up and is still sharing a body with Ebony.
Re-watching this show reminded me of some silly things SK did that made no sense. I thought sending them a virus on a cute alien was a pretty good idea (for this show), however putting it on the same creature with the ability to deactivate it was not just dumb luck but also weird. He seems to have also forgotten enough about his past life to not know how the robot monkeys work or how the Super robot works... after building them. Which means that Skeleton King is dumber than the Alchemist. I bet he kicks himself every night, knowing that he ultimately created his own demise.
Even the original Mandarin grew tired of his bullsh*t and gave up trying to emulate the Power Primate and just destroyed the whole cloning system with a blob to eat everyone. Also, what's with Shuggazoom? I'm sure Mandarin really wanted to be mayor of the only city on the whole planet, but there were more worlds SK could have bothered and gotten a Dark One out from.
This show is comedy, even if it does have some more serious tones, it's about space monkeys fighting Skeletor's cousin. And it will never leave me, oh my god. xD

Oh, so sorry, my comment wasn't made to be in reply for yours. Not sure how that happened.
Hope you can forgive me, was an accident. The slow clap was meant to be a response to Skeleton King's terrible logic.

I sooooo agree with you about SK. And the show as a whole. There are things in this show where I'm just all: ..... okaaaaaaaaay ??? while laughing about it but even so, I do love this show. and I've always loved SK even if he is incredibly inept and like many villains of said shows, did things that really had no purpose or were just strange or ultimately counterproductive to his plans. He had awesome abilities but he didn't really utilize them to their full potential.
And yes! the errors and flaky animation at some points xD I haven't seen this show in ages. It wasn't a super incredible must watch show but I always liked it for what it was... although I never was much of a Chiro fan. I firstly got into it because of Skeleton King honestly and I grew to like to monkeys. and some stories/episodes are great to watch still.
Your art (especially your comics) have gotten soooo much better in panel composition, pacing, and overall quality. nice to watch how you've grown
Always liked Razor's quick wit.

When I re-watched the show a couple months ago, I realized how under-funded it was but also wanted to analyze it from a more critical stand point in terms of story and character development. My art friend took one look at the art and said, "Dude, that show looks so bad." Unfortunately he was right, but I didn't find it so terrible compared to other wacky shows out there. If you try to take the show too seriously, I think that's where it falls short.
I appreciate the comment!
I keep my horrible old 20-box comics to remind myself where I started and of course showcase to anyone else who is starting at the same place. Some official schooling in comics would have been nice, but oh well...

...You know, when you put it all like that, yeah, Skeleton King isn't exactly in the running for supervillain of the millennium.
Also, hold UP! Β He (or at least, his former self) actually MADE the monkeys and Super Robot?!
...MAN, I need to go back and rewatch all the stuff I missed, too... all I have to go on is scattered bits and pieces.

Scyrel In reply to SirArceon [2016-10-21 23:01:50 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, the Alchemist created the monkey team and worked with two other scientists to build the Super Robot. He made the team initially to fight evil, but it just so happened after becoming afflicted by the Dark Ones, he hurried up their progress to fight his evil side. Skeleton King knows the Alchemist made the monkeys, but seemingly doesn't remember anything else about his involvement. I think if he did, he'd be much scarier psychologically instead of weird by hoarding Chiro's clothing and toys.

I'm trying to post stuff regularly, but it's not always easy to do and I sometimes put things on Tumblr only.
I will try to get that MSA comic finished, because I don't like to leave it hanging, but it takes some time to write, rough and finish pages.

Razor brings up some excellent points. Although, I'm a bit confused? Isn't Razor part of the Monkey Force? If so, did this take place before he was on their side or something?
π: 0 β©: 1
Scyrel In reply to Zie-LA [2016-10-21 16:41:02 +0000 UTC]
He's designed to look like them because initially he was going to be, but his personality was already too aggressive and an accident involving him and Ebony got them fused together. Both had to be scrapped, so they were never officially part of the team. Even when Ebony came back, she couldn't really fit in as she hadn't honed in any particular skill. Because Ebony and Razor kept switching off control of the single body they shared, Razor started developing feelings for her and even though he was working for SK at the time, SK had the two separated.
So yes, this little skit took place when Razor was still sharing a body with Ebony, so he could go in and out easily between the Hyperforce and Skeleton King's domain under Ebony's guise. Later on, I have Razor and Ebony visit the Hyperforce from time to time, but they aren't officially team members because Razor just can't stand Antauri or Chiro long enough. Razor is mostly an anti-hero and does whatever he wants.

Zie-LA In reply to Scyrel [2016-10-21 17:39:17 +0000 UTC]
Oh, I see. Although, I am now very interested to see how this "body share" would work between the two. I bet it's hilarious!
π: 0 β©: 1
Scyrel In reply to Zie-LA [2016-10-21 19:36:06 +0000 UTC]
I didn't get into detail with it too much, but there are times where Razor and Ebony would argue or stiffen each other's movements to piss them off. Ebony slapped Razor with his own hand once and if Ebony was losing a fight, Razor would insist on letting him help so she wouldn't get them both killed. Antauri would constantly weaken Razor to keep him from completely taking her over, so most of the time he had no choice but to do small things to help himself.

I probably should watch this show, as I hear it was good. Wierd that it got a cliff hanger. Disney should do what Nickelodeon did with Invader Zim. Continue the show in comic form, even after all these years.
Funny comic by the way. X)

Well, the farther back you go, the grittier it gets. Unfortunately, Razor's beginning had a much visually rougher start.
Pyalicious [2016-10-20 21:28:09 +0000 UTC]
I love Razor's expression in the 6th panel. It's so refreshing to see the improvement in your style from the first comics to now.
I honestly wish this show would get more attention, or better yet, be continued/revived. I get the feeling today's audience would make it a lot more popular than it was back in the day. Leaving aside the deeper, darker episodes, it was a show governed mainly by randomness (colorful monkeys, Skeleton King, the title and theme song :'), the random monster battles), and it seems today's shows are exactly about that. It would be nice to see it given a second chance.

Scyrel In reply to Pyalicious [2016-10-21 16:08:39 +0000 UTC]
Oh my gosh, the first comics were terrible!
I'm still surprised this show made it to 4 seasons with the way it was running. Characters were consistently off model, some animation was reused. You can really tell in the first episodes how little money they had, but it seemed to have gotten better over time. Still, the story could have been better explained and I personally would have liked to see more character development. It's funny that the project could afford decent voice actors, but I'm guessing that's Disney for ya.
I'm afraid this show is pretty much done, but if you haven't checked out Ciro's on going show, TMNT from 2012, I'd highly recommend it. I'm really not a ninja turtle fan, but this series is so good and Ciro has thrown in a lot of SRTMHFG related Easter eggs and they crack me up.

Pyalicious In reply to Scyrel [2016-10-21 16:48:51 +0000 UTC]
I still love the first comics :'). All of them actually.Β
And indeed it's true. The animation was almost always low in frames and the differences between the animators's styles were highly noticeable. Still couldn't help but enjoy it xD. There are a couple times when the animation was of higher quality and far more enjoyable, visually.
I've watched a couple episodes from the new TMNT series, I'm actually on the other side, being a fan of one of the old TMNT series (and game, I loved both during childhood!), and for this reason, I don't really enjoy this new one. Compared to the 2003 version, which is the one I'm familiar with, it feels more cartoony and silly. Realistically speaking, i really shouldn't judge anything just by that x'D and I know I should definitely try actually watching it, but it's a hard transition to make.

Scyrel In reply to Pyalicious [2016-10-21 17:28:23 +0000 UTC]
Well I'm glad you like them because there's no way that I can. xD
I've actually heard that same statement before about the turtles from those who liked the older ones and it's understandable. I liked the darker one too, but never really got into it. My buddy (who loves turtles) was the one who really wanted me to see the new one. It is goofy, but it's got that comical flare that SRMTHFG had, however it's not all comedy and there are some darker tones in there. The character development is insane though, way better than some of the previous turtles. (They even had a crossover episode between 80's turtles and these new ones) Anyway, if you don't enjoy it, it's okay.
