Description I meant to do a few Halloween-appropriate comics, but I didn't like my other ideas.

I'm still updating my Halloween blog every single day! Today was a little article (with more original artwork of mine) for people who DISlike Halloween! [link]

Y'know, we have to give that lady credit. She's more genre-savvy than most horror movie protagonists, and she's willing to love someone bitten by every werewolf in the universe. Shame about her aversion to were-snails, though; having Gestarewolf for a boyfriend would be an interesting experience.

Not much to say that hasn't been said. I just read the thing over and over again.

I like to picture the background story, though. I mean, get this, one human gets assaulted by *all* the werewolves, and one tiny weresnail is feeling opportunistic ("now or nevaaa!")

My mother dislikes halloween because it encorgaes vandals and house-egging etc, also because she sees it as a stupid american holiday with no meaning in our country. I myself, however, now that age has allowed any schoolyard bullies intent on egging my house to find better things to do, love the idea of getting dressed up in a funky costume and eating junkfood. The only thing I am averse to is eating is food that is made to look like something un-appetising, but that's just because I'm sqeamish, gummy snakes, worms, snails, rats, etc are fine.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

scythemantis In reply to Boverisuchus [2011-10-23 07:10:13 +0000 UTC]

That's the common UK attitude I've encountered. The vandalism/egging is extremely rare in American Halloween, it's more a cliche' of cartoons than a reality, and Halloween has no special cultural meaning here, either...it's a media invention and we don't care, it's pure silliness for the sake of it.

I know the UK suffers a much bigger problem with children being delinquent though, if my friends there tell the truth

Boverisuchus In reply to scythemantis [2011-10-23 07:46:25 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad to hear that america is still host to good wholesome family fun, in this day and age. Funny to say actually, but It brings to mind the general fun-loving, family oriented, "we'll treat you right" sort of image that other countries get about americans sometimes. But, god dammit, that's a good thing!!!

I decided to embrace halloween because I am planning to become an american at some point, to be with my partner. He and his friends go to halloween events and dress up etc. He loes it, he painted his face green and went as "The Hulk" afew years back, it was humorous to see his typical innocent grin in place of an enraged Bruce Banner.

Aw, that's sweet!

I didn't know there were any "positive" American stereotypes either, I only ever hear the "fat Mcdonalds eating texan" one

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Boverisuchus In reply to scythemantis [2011-10-23 09:25:32 +0000 UTC]

I think there are afew, or at least, I have preconceptions about americans that are good ones.

I got hit with the "complainer" stereotype, on youtube for some comment I made, he said "typical australian". That made me think, come on now, you're not even trying, here in Australia, the Brits are said to be the complainers.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

scythemantis In reply to Boverisuchus [2011-10-23 20:42:39 +0000 UTC]

As much as I usually hate generalizing I have met a startling number of british complainers (and nationalists) : P

The only stereotypes I ever hear about Australians is Americans thinking they're all rugged badass outdoorsmen.

Boverisuchus In reply to scythemantis [2011-10-24 00:47:29 +0000 UTC]

I hear that one too, I guess it's not a "bad" stereotype, but it is abit sexist (reverse sexism?).
