This picture has a kind of indescribable nature to it - the flower looks crisp and dry, brittle, dead...but petal-soft at the same time. The colour of the flower itself is striking - not against the background, as is usually the case, but against the dark, dead/diseased stem and leaves. i find that, along with the (probably unintentional) even split of black and white in the background that reminds me of ying and yang, of balance, tying in with the life and death of the rose, to be highly...i'm not sure if attractive is the correct word.
Suffice to say I really like this picture. Well done.

Thank you for leaving such a wonderful and detailed comment - I appreciate that very much
The split of dark & light in the background was not intended - in fact, I didn't even notice it until you mentioned it , but that's what's always amazing, to see what other people see in one's art and what they think about it. I really like your comparison with yin and yang, because that was what fascinated me about this rose: that it is still beautiful although it's not going to last very much longer. Almost gone, but still looking so alive in some way.
Thanks again, your comment made me see this shot in a differnt light!

the sadness capture in this shot is so deep. nice job with this. maybe clean up the background a little bit to take away some of the unnecessary business, but besides that, great shot.

Aw, how pretty. I don't know why, and please don't take offense to this, but this shot reminds me of a crucafix. I think that's how it's spelled.

Yay, another fan of dead roses! hehe

Be just and fear not, be stoned and fear everything! ...sorry. Rocky quotes make me need to do screamers. I'll just go back to my corner now...
