WOOO, ok i have been trying to work on this and i finally have felt like drawing again! I promise to try get to the AusWB judging in the next day or two (SO sorry for being late guys). But until then enjoy the second last segment of this story (I know i said last, but it didn't fit in one so i split it into two).

Hunk squealed as the small chestnut stallion connected a few blows to his shoulder and barrel. Rearing on his hind legs he buffeted his own around the studs head forcing him back. Dropping to all four feet again Hunk snaked his head forward, teeth snapping shut a few inches from his rival’s legs. Neither stallion spared a thought for anything but each other. Hunks movements were impeded by the gear strapped to him, but the small stallion had long ago learnt the bitter taste of defeat and although aggressive, he had never failed to recognize its beginning. Using his bulk the roan reared forwards, resting his weight on the other stallions back and driving him away. The shift in the battle had taken only a few moments, but the feral stallion broke away.

Turning towards his mares he rolled an eye and pinned his ears at Hunk, if the roan was going to fight for them he would not give in easily. However, though he could smell them and see them, something was tugging him the opposite direction. The roan turned his head, gaze resting on the prone form of the human he had knocked out of the way. She was so still, so quiet. Turning back he watched the chestnut collect his small herd and disappear into the trees. He ignored the natural desire to follow, to take the mares and ghost into the trees. Instead he turned and walked back to the woman.

Reaching down he breathed her in. She smelled normal, slightly salty but none of the metallic tang that he knew meant a wound. He nosed her shoulder, shaking her slightly but she still lay there. Raising a hoof he paused just before pawing at her, he sometimes forgot how delicate they could be. Lowering it gently he turned his head back towards hers, carefully he snuffled along her face, nudging her gently as he tried to rouse a response. Finding the salt again he dabbed his tongue out, snorting at the taste. She let out a slight sound which sent his ears flickering as he backed up to wait for more, but she again fell still. Sighing to himself he looked back at the tree line, the others had vanished and they were alone. He ducked his head down and again licked at her face, accidentally getting hair which was surprising but he continued as she began to rouse more.
