Hey Everyone.

I usually give a little description about my thought process when I was drawing but this time I drew because I needed to take my mind off the last two weeks I had. 2 weeks ago I got sick, could not sit or walk properly. Got a little scare but it eventually healed. Then last week my country, South Africa, had a mini war with itself...I am talking shops burning down, businesses burning down, riots, excessive looting and violence. When they fully looted shops they started to turn their attention towards the communities. Last week Tuesday or early hours of Wednesday morning I was sitting at home hearing gunshots and explosions not at all sure if my family would have to stay and fight people or we would have to flee our homes in case they decided to burn our community (not to mention the very real possibility that they would have definitely targeted our shops and malls, burning those down and leaving us with no place to buy food or essentials). This is not something my country is used to. The rioters where held back from my community and several other communities thankfully. There were several businesses burnt down leaving some underprivileged communities without a place to buy food. The country literally lost billions in a few days because of this.

My country was able to deploy military in areas and as quick as the insurrection happened, it ended. A truly weird and scary week that ended as if nothing at all happened (our shops were saved and the government was able to send trucks that were able to restock the shelves because everyone started to panic buy). I drew this because I wanted to draw something complex to get my mind off things.

All things considered this was the fastest turnaround for a complex illustration that I have done in a while so..you know...there is that I guess. I got tired towards the end and a lot of the roses on her head just started to get more and more abstract. I used a brush for the freckles and for the skin I did not really care to even try to figure that out so I just googled and used a concrete wall texture for her skin. Did not work the way I intended but it does give an interesting look.
