Description
I wanted to write a clever title but I could not think of one. I am just happy I finished this.I have been gone for a very long time from DA and I wanted to come back. I thought that I would finish up a illustration that I started like two months back. At the time I was trying to push myself to draw in color because that is lacking in my skill set. My previous color illustration that I finished was my wolf study. This time I wanted to push myself further by drawing in color from the start because with the wolf I went from grey scale and converted to color. I am not going to lie, as difficult as it was, I think I prefer drawing in color from scratch as appose to the conversion. It is very noticeable in the hair here compared to the wolf. The wolf does not look soft and fluffy like I wanted. Maybe, If I am struggling, I could do the conversions with faces and clothing but with hair, I think I need to do it in color from the start.
In a weirdly lucky way, I had some personal issues come up when I began this illustration. Issues that caused me to stop drawing for a while. But before the issues came up, I actually quite this illustration and decided to go the grey scale route ( this drawing was too confusing for me to handle). When I picked it back up recently, I completely forgot that I wanted to do that and continued in color. By the time I remembered, I had some kind of rhythm going so I did not want to stop...I am glad I did not. I have learnt some things, especially about my brush and when too use the soft edge vs hard and how that helps when drawing in color (this has to do with setting up your base of the drawing before putting details on). Plus for the first time I payed around with opacity of my brush (something I have been told about but did not use and I must say, it has quite a nice effect to it)
I am very happy with how it turned out and I really need to do a few more color portraits to start getting the hang of using color. The one thing I need to incorporate into my drawings more are custom brushes (I exclusively use the round brush and would like to know how to use other brushes to create textures).
Anyway...Yay!!!! I'm Back!!!

I think you did a great job. Study or not, it doesn't lessen the result!

Thank you!!! I am actually not sure how long it took me. I stop and start a lot plus I started this a month or 2 ago and only recently finished it.
