Erm..I realise that this is just a "funny", but it does seem like some people in the USA hold the notion that the USA was solely responsible for ending the war, and in all seriousness, the war did *not* simply end because "the Americans came and saved the allies".
This is quite insulting to and dismissive of the millions of soldiers from the UK, France, Russia, Canada, Australia, and a number of other allied forces who fought and died before the USA even stepped foot into Europe. Please look here: [link] to perhaps get a clear and simple picture of contribution to the waging of the war. Yes, American intervention was perhaps to be a deciding factor towards the end, but...just don't be saying that you saved us. Please.

As someone that lives in america and holds a wide spectrum of contacts, all of which holding a variety of world perspectives, i can tell you almost no one in the States holds the mindset that we "saved the European allies and were the only decisive factor in stopping Hitler."
I WILL say that many war-advocates stateside tend to... puff out their chest a bit, when World War II is the topic of interest. Regardless what the undertones are regarding that, most Americans are very neutral to the topic as a whole, the only (generally) universal viewpoint us Americans hold is that Hitler was a very, very twisted mind.
I can't speak for southern state education since I hear their curriculum is really different from the north, but where I'm from the large majority of WWII content is focused on British war innovation, Canadian shocktroops, the advent of communist Russia, and of course any and all pivotal battles throughout the European and Pacific theaters.
