Anyone remember this game? Eversion is an indie platformer that came out in 2008 (about 10 years ago) and got an HD remake for steam in 2010. It's been called a "razor blade in a candy apple" and I certainly wouldn't disagree! If you don't know what this is, I'll explain.

(SPOILER ALERT!!!)

You play as this flower-like creature, named ZeeTee (at least I think that's his official name) and you're on a mission to save a princess, named Princess Nehema (at least I think that's her official name). At first, it looks like a clone of Super Mario Bros., but you have this special ability to "evert" the world. It can only be used at certain spots called "Eversion Points" and when you do, some of the world's properties change. Like in one world, you can pass through clouds, but in another, you can stand on them. So you basically make your way through these levels, bouncing off enemies, collecting gems, and changing the world to progress. However, the more you evert the world, the more unsettling it gets. Giant hands come out of the water, you and enemies die in explosions of blood, gems turn into skulls, the score goes crazy, creepy messages appear after you die, and by the time you reach the eighth layer or form of the world, the bright and happy facade has been replaced with a nightmarish landscape.

Fun fact: Unlike most of my drawings, I didn't start this on paper and then transfer it to Photoshop. I did the whole thing in Photoshop!

Anyway, this image summarizes most of the game. I couldn't include everything because I didn't want it to get too complex. I was also running out of room. I decided to give the enemies more emotion than what they have in the actual game, just to make it a little more interesting. I honestly think this game deserves more than just an HD remake.

This took me about a week to make, so I hope you all like it!

On a side note, the colors of the sky kind of remind me of those Skittles commercials. "EVERT THE RAINBOW" "TASTE THE RAINBOW"
