We had socialism until 20 years ago so we only had public education system. And it was excellent. It still is but this new generation of kids simply don't want to learn. They can find anything on Internet so why bother with learning

Well that is true too, but where I am from the education system is severely lacking. The teachers lie about the students or just don't care. The teachers that do care, students lie about them to get them fired. Its just all messed up here. The problem students (or students deemed to be problem students) get sent off to an alternative school where the classes are so easy its not funny. In other words they don't teach you anything. When you fight against being int the alternative school they send you to home bound where they continue teaching you even less. Yes the school system doesn't need to be fixed.

We had an excellent education, we learned a lot of things. I know some kids that came from USA, they couldn't continue here, they have to repeat one or even two classes to become equal to our kids. What kids in your country learn in high school, our kids learn in primary school. My friend finished 4th class of high school in USA. She was very bad in chemistry in Croatia, but when she came to USA, they sent her to competition in chemistry and she won. But unfortunately, today is not as it was before, instead of keeping our system we are trying to copy USA or Europe system

Yeah they are going the wrong direction by trying to copy the usa's system. Its all over the news how they need to improve it.

I support education, which is encouraging kids to think on their own.I think, that the world is in the current bad condition, because many people are stupid enough to watch tv and let their brains die.More books must be read.Less tv.

I agree with you. Kids can't even calculate without calculators today. Few days ago I've seen on TV News that kids in one school in my town use PCs for math, for learning, homework, everything. Tomorrow, they won't know how to write anymore. All that modern technology makes people more stupid imo, especially kids. They are simply becoming slaves of it

I'm a teacher myself and I'm glad to see others appreciating education.
And... teachers ruin your weekends because they care.
Either that are you were giving them trouble in class and disrupting others from learning.

Teachers in my daughter's school are so indulgent. She never has homework for the weekend.
In my country education is free and obligatory, our kids have free books but less and less want to learn. They have no interest for knowledge. Education was much better before, it gave us much more knowledge about everything. We call it general culture (literally translate from my language). Today, kids are specialists for nothing
