Description
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you:SPRING HEELED JACK!
Age: 104 years old (36 of which were human)
Height: 11'6" (not including the hat)
Weight: 290lb
Brief History:
In the early 1800s, Jack (who was not yet named such) was the ringmaster of a traveling circus. Lead by himself and his wife, it toured all of Europe. He was also a cannibal, and after nightfall would sneak out into the town his circus camped at and kidnap homeless children to eat. On the occasions he was spotted or someone tried to apprehend him, he used the acrobatic skills to escape. Because of this, he soon became an urban legend known as Spring Heeled Jack.
Eventually, he was caught by a mob and beaten to death. The circus performers who loved their leader (unknowing of Jack's crimes) convinced their fortune teller, a gypsy, to resurrect him. She bound his soul to a stilt-legged mannequin with a hex. Jack resumed his position as leader but also resumed his nightly hunts, for while he could no longer eat flesh, he hungered all the same, and did so by draining the souls of his victims.
Years passed, and in the late 1800s the circus finally discovered Jack's secret. They turned on him and convinced the gypsy to hex him yet again. She cursed Jack again, transforming him into an automated ticket booth, so he would remain part of the circus but be unable to inflict anyone harm.
Though the kidnappings stopped, the legend of Spring Heeled Jack lived on, told through boogeyman stories women used to get their kids to behave.
Yet more years passed and the circus disbanded. The gypsy retired to a secluded home in England and kept Jack, still trapped in his box, with her. Eventually, old age took the woman and she died. Shortly afterwards, two thieves broke into her house and accidently released Jack.
So now Jack is free.
And he's hungry.
Personality:
Jack is a showman. He is loud, assertive, and will turn any event into a lively performance. He exaggerates everything for sake of making a story exciting. If he wasn't a ringmaster, he'd make an excellent snake-oil salesman. His life is a stage and he loves the spotlight.
That said, he doesn't parade the fact that he's a soul-sucking boogeyman to everyone he meets. From experience, he knows that a mob of villagers is enough to take him down, so he keeps his darker side hidden from you unless he plans on eating you anyway.
Jack considers himself a better man than anyone he knows. He's arrogant, vain, and will not take kindly to insults. He demands respect, but will settle for fear. When he receives neither, he gets angry, to which he is quick to violence.
Jack is void of both remorse and empathy, and is completely self centered. He is crafty, and will lie through his teeth to get what he wants. The crafty showman that he is, he is quite good at this.
He's a very sore loser.
Body:
Jack is a clockwork mannequin enchanted by gypsy magic. He requires souls, human or animal, to wind the spring in his chest that powers his body.
Important notes:
-the clockwork in his chest is what allows him to function, as vital as any human organ. Though he can shake off losing a limb and cannot bleed out, a couple bullets to the chest will slay him like any average man.
-Jack is magically bound to his wooden body. As such, he can feel pain through it, though the fact that his body is wood makes for a tough skin to break.
Physical Prowers:
As far as combat goes, Jack is strong but human-range strong, which is made more lethal by the fact that he's made of wood. A backhand slap will feel like being hit by a baseball bat. Having grown up with a band of traveling gypsies, he is experienced in street fighting.
His massive, spring-powered legs are his primary weapons. He can easily cross sixty feet with a single leap, and his stomps and kicks can break bones with ease. Don't be mistaken by how long and awkward those legs look, he's not only fast but incredibly agile.
The soles of his feet are made of steel.
Mystic Prowers:
Jack doesn't eat, but he still requires food to survive. That "food" is the life force (souls) of living creatures. He drains the souls from his victims to re-wind the massive gear in his chest that powers his clockwork body. It also heals his body, from cracks to lost limbs to tears in his suit. It renews the mystic energy which allows him to exist. To drain a soul and reinvigorate himself, his face needs to be within a foot of his victim's. The process takes several seconds to complete, during which the victim could struggle and break free. As such, Jack usually beats his victims into submission before doing such.
Weaknesses:
His body is mostly made of dry wood, and as such, is extremely vulnerable to fire. Jack's legs make it difficult or impossible to fit into small spaces and hinders him in even human-sized spaces. Between the noises his body makes as he moves and his appearance, it is hard for him to hide or be stealthy.
Jack is extremely arrogant, self worshiping, and has a short temper.

Misc: Jack is both a talented juggler and accordion player. Jack is ambidextrous.
I commissioned to color the main picture. Thank you for the sweet work, ichi!

Well thank you! I graciously accept your offering of bacon!
If you like terrifying, I suggest reading my first couple IdrisfallOCT entries. Jack had a jolly good romp there! (I dialed back the horror after the first couple, mind) Ā
