This is Captain James T. Kirk and his Soul Siblings; Shylea L'Naym and Tuskaro Alyen .
In this verse Kirk leaves the Enterprise after only a few months and accepts command of the science vessel, Saratoga. While there he meets Alyen and L'Naym and the three immediately form a strong bond. Months later the lifemates form a Soul Sibling bond with Kirk; basically adopting him as their older brother and becoming his younger brother and sister. Theirs is a very unique friendship; a Starship Captain and two enlisted Crewmen. But Jim's always been destined to be unique.

I wanted to show two things:
One that Kirk can bond closely with someone other than Spock.
In TOS it was always Kirk and Spock. Even McCoy was mostly on the sidelines.
Most of all I wanted to show that Kirk can have a close bond with a woman that's purely platonic.
This was something lacking in both TOS and the AOS.
In TOS Kirk regarded Uhura as a subordinate officer, nothing more. There was deep mutual respect
but no close friendship. Its the same with AOS, the only regular female character in Kirk's life that he's
not in bed with, is Uhura. And while there is mutual respect there isn't a close bond.
Also in this picture I wanted the mood to be cheerful and lighthearted, but for one to still be able
to feel the closeness between the three.
