Description Resubmitting this, even though it was popular the first time around (for me, at least; 25 favorites ). I thought I could do a much better job with the post processing.

"Heh, had a time thinking up a name for this one, though thesaurus.com came through for me. This photo was actually taken in class today. My Chem class was just doing a mini lab on how objects can gain mass when they burn. So we were burning pieces of steel wool. Sparks resulted and I caught the shower in a short, 3 second exposure. That's my friend John holding the piece with some tongs (he told me to mention him, even though he's not visible due to the brightness of the light). We had a piece of magnesium we found on the floor, but they burned it before I got my camera out. I'm gonna try to get some shots of that stuff sometime, it burns like as bright as the sun! I'm sure I'll have more cool shots from this class, the instructor is not the least bit stingy with the chemicals she has (we also exploded two hydrogen balloons today).

Thought you might like this one, since my other fire-related pics get a lot of attention. Comment away!"

Yep. She does tons of demos. Make sure you have one of those tiny table-top tripods. Like the 4 inch kind.

This is really cool. I can see why your fire related pictures get a lot of attention. It sort of reminds me of what I imagined when I was reading the Lord of the Rings and Gandalf pulls out all those cool fireworks. Or maybe that was the Hobbit. I can't remember. But I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. ^.^

Not really, I've never read any Tolkein.
Thanks, though!

You're welcome!
