I would say the 1st, but maybe both because when (SPOILER WARNING for the 2nd trial) Mondo promised to his deceased big brother that the CRAZY DIAMONDS would not fall (If you know what I mean) but since he's getting executed he couldn't keep his promise... But at least Mondo is back with his big brother, in the after life.
