Description
Done in about an hour for ~AshBrad93 . He is working on a Metal Gear Movie Project and I drew this in about an hour to show him and to see if he finds my art acceptable for this project of his. I'd like to use it as a means to spread my name and also as a way to give the fans something nice.I don't know much about the project he's undertaking but I hope he as well as the rest of my subscribers enjoy it.
It is done in pencil and the colored sections are done in acrylic. I also inked in the pupils too the effect I was shooting for with his thermals and eyes.

Really nice! Shading is really cool and I love just the eyes and thermals having color. Overall an awesome recreation of one of my favorite MGS images

Thanks you very much, I'm glad you like it as well...I do remember finishing the picture and was like...it looks too plain. So that's when I pulled out the paint and did some last minute touches on that to draw emphasis to Snakes eyes in a sense. The old agent being called back in again to another sneaking mission--eyes still sharp and weathered with some experience and age. A sense of experience that he disparately did need in that mission.

No doubt some excellent use of symbolism. Usually these little things pass right by me, but I really think those last minute touches made the difference of a good portrait to a good portrait with an impact.

Thank you. Haha how many times have you drawn something and then rushed to finish it and posted it and been like shit I should have done that to it! I've done that sometimes...I literally was going to throw it on the scanner and I looked at it a long moment and was like...that would look cool so I was like running around grabbing paint bushes and stuff to do it real quick because the guy I had drawn this for said he was going to go on vacation so I wanted to hurry and get it up quick.
Of course at this point it seems to be all in vein because he didn't think it was good enough. I think it was pretty good considering he's not paying me and wanted 200+ drawings. I mean you can't ask for super high quality work over a huge project like that for nothing. Like I'd of done it in my inking pen but that pen is almost out of ink and those pens are $3.00 a pop. That adds up to a lot of money over time, because even though the pens are high quality they run out of ink before I realize it, then its back to Michael's lol Like with the pictures I've done with my colored bush set of the same pens I've been trying to use them sparingly for that reason. They're a 100 dollar set normally and we managed to get them for 30 bucks. EXPEEENNNSIVE.

That's really disappointing to hear. Even more so of how ignorant it is of someone to demand that much and then expect some self-set (which is usually some bullshit impossible level of quality) standard, and then not take into account how much work and money spent that totals. Honestly, I would pay full price for this!

Well thank you, I'm glad someone else feels this way. That kind of stuff really just annoys me...its like do you honestly realize how much this stuff runs? I would be grateful that someone took the time to fulfill the request so quickly knowing that you were going on vacation or whatever it is and then say its not 'professional' enough. I posted like a mini-rant about it on Facebook because it annoyed me so. I mean, its like I said, I understand that its a free project but as a free project you need to lower standards and be happy someone took it seriously and tried to fill your request in a punctual manner after contacting you about it.
I mean even if you think about it...it took over an hour for me to do that drawing and you want 200 plus drawings so you have to figure at least 1 hour per drawing at that quality and its like do the math...that's at least 200 hours of my time. That's a pretty high commitment project for something free but I was willing to do it for free simply because I'm a Metal Gear fan and have understanding of that art style.
I am grateful that you look at it like something you would pay for as a commission, but I would probably have inked it if you were paying commission price and if you wanted it in color I'd of tried to do it too (but it would have taken from this pic for it to be in full color). Right now, for something like that, I'm only charging like 2.50 for me to draw up that and post a digital copy! I was trying to lower my prices so maybe I could get a little extra cash for my birthday because right now the boyfriend is unemployed and we're living off of just that basically. My birthday is in 2 days and I'm probably not going to get anything really done for it so I wanted to do art so I could have a decent birthday.

Well I'd love to do one for ya if you're able to buy one! My commissions stay open year round and I really like to try and take whatever I can. My link to my commissions is in my signature if you want to look around as well. I can do traditional, digital (not my super strong point yet but I'll do'em), paintings and even literature. If you've got any friends that may be able to afford one I will never turn down the traffic. Art is something I like to do and I'd like to do for a living as well.

Thank ya, and sorry for the late reply...I swear...I let my comments and faves stack up to like in the hundreds and like hit them all up in one shot half the time lol...I guess because I tend to keep so busy drawing and doing stuffz in the real world.

Thank you, I had a good time painting them in as a final touch. The emphasis was an interesting final detail to me.
