Hermione stood resolute – she saw Severus shift weakly under Fenrir’s weight … Fenrir slammed his great claw down on the Wizards chest, he closed it slowly with a cruel intent meant for the young Witch to witness … Snape gasped …

“Stop it!”

“You’re hurting him …”

“Yesssss …”

Fenrir paused briefly … his eye-lids dropped, hooding his already malevolent stare …

“Toss your wand … over there …”

“What …?”

Fenrir blinked slowly - his grip tightened …
Severus squirmed once more … His pained groan reached out across the chill night air …

“Do it …”

“I will not …”

“Then watch him die …”

Hermione did watch, horrified as the Werewolf pulled the Wizard up from his chest as he himself rose to his feet …

She cast her spell now for all she was worth - she was beyond regretting her hesitation … she only thought to save Severus … there was a blur - a ferociously wounded howl, then another blast of cruel light …

Hermione fell … she could only just make out two silhouettes rushing up from the darkness … another sick flash of light … then the night closed in around her …
