Description
Personal illustration.Relaxing, doing something for fun.
A variation of "The Siamese Antechamber".
In terms of significance, I am not going to go into it though you are welcome to guess.
I will say that, despite appearances my work is never really about random markmaking.
I feel more closely aligned with the Symbolists than the DaDa movement.
So I like it.
I think you might like it as well.

Hey thanks, I think you are onto something. There is a definite "temple" vibe from this but symbolic more of a personal, introspective realization (or realizations).

I really like this one. Either the concept or the final effect
The colours are really psychodelic. Well composed.
The faces really make impression

What do you think of Rothko's work? I am always interested in the translation of abstract expression (even if it is paint) into photography. I think abstract photo has great potential.

I've seen some of his paintings as photos. Well... abstract painting should be seen live, otherwise a lot of important things are lost, e.g. textures, which very often appear. Abstract photo has great potential, I agree, but it can't be photographed abstract painting. Because in this case it'll be deprived of it's power.

It's breathtaking when sombody uses rainbow colors in a way that looks good...not skittles but the northen lights the way it's meant to be!

Ha, thanks.
Beauty and it;s opposite are interchangeable.
I think that the underside of insects, with all the ingrained repugnance is also something of infinte symmertrical wonder.
So, subjective or context maybe?
It is a curious parallel that you point out.
Very nice to have you stop by and see the work, I appreciate that!

Thanks, glad you stopped by. I don't really see that as associating with a particular movement, just a comment about which periods I am more interested in. I have however, been inspired by movements ( Symbolism for example) more directly and evidentially in works like "Suplicate" where the impressions made by Redon informed that actual work. I see it as an advantage to make careful study of the past but only to the point where it helps you move forward. It can be, as I think you are careful to note, a crutch or a trap as well. Still, it is important to know our history, it does after all belong to all of us.

This is a gorgeous piece...the colours, the imagery, everything, is amazingly done...--but to associate one's self with any movement is a bit impersonal. Leave the labels in art history books. ~.^

those faces look like they're come out of my nightmares. I like the artwork though, and the colours. It reminds me a little of Alex Grey's work only I don't think it has anything to do with it... maybe.

Actually that would not be a conscious decision but who knows what influences our subconscious no?
There is a "Shinning" vibe in it with the creepy twins in the hallway but less about that.
I think there is great creepiness in young humans or once human creatures.
A reminder of the potential for great benevolence and malevolence inherent in the species.

I was interested in the title so I went to see it, but then it was just gray with the deviant art symbol, so I went to see if I could see it enlarged and it really freaked me out more than any other picture on this site. Maybe it's geting too late at night. It's so diffrent than all your other pictures.

Ha, yeah I grew up witha love of science fiction and a healthy paranormal childhood.
Too much old South in my veins I suppose. Confederate blood and all that.
The spirit world and the waking world are often mixed in some spots.
This was just done for fun, my own relaxation.

Thanks, so far everyone has seemed pretty satisfied with them.
The site itself has been a point of discussion. Seems anything outside of IE makes it look all wonky.
Yes I know Micro$oft is evil but frankly my job is to make the work, and let someone else sort the site building.
Plans have been made to update it but bah, there are a million things to do.
And now that it is warming up there are a million and one.
But that's cool.
Stop by and check them out.
The $2 shipping is added ONCE, not per unit and the international $5 charge has gone bye bye.
So in other words it is more advantageous to buy them all at once. Like an ATM fee ( which really is what it is since I get whacked with the transaction fees and ergo, have to pass that along to the people).
But I have saved some of the images for myself cause I dig the way they look too.
Of course if you are really ambitious you can order a custom hadn detailed signed image for $75, which is about 50% of the gallery fee.
Okay enough gab!!!
If there is something you are into and don't see just let me know.

wow. its really lovely. its cool because when i first saw it, i was drawn in by the colours, but then when i clicked on the thumbnail, it turned evil and my first thought was the girls from the shining, a movie i have only seen for about 8 seconds on the movie Twister, when they go to the drive in movie. i'm a sad little person.

Ah, yeah there is a macabre vibe "shining" through this. But it should I hope, be less about the murder of children and more about the joy of discovery. Even if what you are discovering is something with potential for great calamity.

Realizing your are in possession of something of greater power than you had at once anticipated or realized...the significance of the word "occult" itself is "hidden" so yeah I can see that.
I never did actually see "The Others".
Scary movies tend to creep me out too much sometimes.

I remember downloading 2001: A Space Odyssey and watching the beginning. I was so uninterested that I deleted it.
I'd love to watch some of those 'thinking' films. I guess you could call them abstract or whatever.
Gore is fun but if it gets to cheesy it's... crap.

I find something fascinating in old sci-fic Z grade movies like "THEM!" and "Day of the Triffids".
Some undercurrent of social paranoia summing up the mindset of the times in these movies makes them classic.
