Description
Custom design for Gundam Wing: The Sword.[link]
Gundam: Epyon Kai
Role: Close Assault Mobile Suit
Features: Epyon system, Assault thruster x2, mobile armor mode, (HYABUSA)
Armaments: Large beam sword x1 powered by reactor, Defenser rod x1, Shield x1; mounts Double Beam-Blade, claw x2
Designers: Zechs Merquise
Description:
The Epyon was reconstructed in secret while Zechs Merquise was in hiding in Mars space. Like its previous incarnation the Epyon Kai casts aside cowardly gun weapons in favor of melee weapons. Knowing of the intentions of the Mars Federation, the Epyon was upgraded to enhance its melee skills even further, sporting more powerful weapons to engage multiple suits at once and to deal enormous damage in one strike. The new set of folding wing binders give the suit great speed and mobility with integrated thrusters and points of articulation. It is a Gundam that symbolizes strength and leadership. Eventually, the suit is adapted to use the HYABUSA combat computer in addition to the Epyon system once Zechs gains access to that technology.
Special notes:
Large beam sword "Epyon sword": The Epyon's main weapon is a large beam sword connected directly to the Gundam's reactor via a power cable that supplies both electricity and particles. It has a variable output which can range from the likes of a short sword or a blade near 200 ft in length at max output. While it makes a great dueling weapon, it is also designed to pierce armor and cleave through multiple foes.
Assault thruster: To augment the Epyon's fencing style, a hyper-compact array of thrusters was enclosed on the Gundam's forearms. They allow the suit to make extremely fast strikes in rapid succession, and also helps to power through enemy defenses if an opponent happens to defend with a saber. The thruster array helps the Epyon to control its large weapons with a frightening level of sophistication and finesse. However, the array of thrusters will overheat quickly due to its compact size that doesn't allow for much in the way of cooling.
Defenser rod: A sophisticated segmented weapon that is difficult to master. Unlike the heat rod, the defenser rod is not a super-heated weapon, but generates electromagnetic fields like the planet defenser. It cuts using powerful strikes and melts armor by conducting a strong electric current through opponents. In addition to being controlled like a regular whip, the magnetic field of the rod allows it to change direction in mid swing to catch opponents off guard. The blades of the rod can bypass the magnetic field of a planet defenser shield by emitting a negative field that negates that defense.
A special feature of the defenser rod is that its segments can separate and interact purely by the means of magnetic joints which are frictionless and have an enormous range of freedom. This also allows the defenser rod to freely change its length, with a max configuration of 400 ft. At this output, the weapon drains tremendous amounts of energy and is difficult to control, but it can strike through several battleships in one swing. The swings have to be carefully measured so one the bladed segments will land a hit and the target will not slip between the gaps. While the segments can act independently, they usually work in tandem as a whip and are not meant to deflect attacks like regular planet defensers. The segments contract and store underneath the Epyon's shield when not in use.
Double Beam-Blade: The Epyon's shield mounts a double beam-blade that acts as an off-hand sword in close-range combat. It can be used to surprise opponents and is mostly used to block other beam blades without fear of the main shield taking damage. The weapon's output is several times higher than a standard beam saber, but cannot rival the strength of the Gundam's main sword.

Like say before, the most incredible than the new sequel project(i tend to ignore it, mostly because Wing was so well made than was hard to continue the history and Frozen Teardrop can have been done better but at least was some fun,XD), almost like 4 months after your desing take some similar... they are watching you?
Anyway even with some excuse of power level of A.C. Gundams.. those were the one i fell in love for the franchise, and still love it.
The Epyon is Simple the Battlefield Demon than Treize wants to make/be and you simple make it better and more fearsome

It's kind of funny that you designed a white Epyon since the new Gundam Wing manga series, Frozen Teardrop, has a white Epyon in it.

*sigh* Yeah, I know. I really need to finish my fan project before all the official guys take ALL my ideas, lol.

Thanks for the fave and compliment!
I'm kinda sad now though because I just learned that Katoki will be designing a new Epyon for the new book. Makes my design sorta pointless, lol.

Yeah, I was hoping to make it look slightly more dangerous than your average super-heated metal whip. You can see what it really does in the Kai-tan pic. Thanks for the fave and comment. =o

Ahh yes, the segments separate into energy-linked bits. I wonder how long it can extend without breaking though.

It extends about 400ft at max. That's about 7 or 8 times the MS height. You could technically launch them out a little longer, but the connection becomes too weak, and the segments act individually instead of in tandem. I'm actually going to use the defenser rod to do a special trick, but unfortunately, it doesn't happen until the penultimate episode of The Sword, and I could be writing that more than 10 years from now, lol.

Wow now that's something. Weaker connection would mean a less visible link right? I can visualize confusing the enemy with that.
But wow, ten years sure is quite a long way to finish you fan fic.

With a weaker connection, a blade segment can't work with the other ones to act as a whip. Without that, the weapon really loses its attack style. By itself, a segment is really just a knife floating around by itself without the ability to strike as hard as a whip would.
Yeah, by now I've already been working on it for 10 or 11 years, and I suppose at my rate of advance it could take that much longer. It's barely gotten off the ground, lol, but I just can't get it out of my head.

So basically, overly extended segments can fall off? Anyway, are you gonna do the MA mode?

Seraphiczero In reply to Xperimental00 [2011-01-09 17:29:24 +0000 UTC]
I think I probably won't do the MA mode. It transforms the same as the original Epyon, and I've got too many other projects to work on to spend time on something so minuscule. Maybe if I'm randomly inspired to complete it in the future....
They don't "fall off" but they are too far away to attract the other segments. Literally like if two magnets are too far apart they can't really feel each other's magnetic fields. If the segments don't have this "connection" they can't act as a whip and basically are just a random assortment of floating blades. Not quite as useful.

Really? Glint is nearly all white with some black accents whereas this Epyon has a lot of grays on it. I guess they're similar enough.

i meant the design but you have a point as well. oh I also looked at your strayed unit it's pretty awesome, I can't wait to get a PS3 so I can get AC4A and rebuild nemesis zero again.

does this version of epyon still have the mobil armor mode transformation?

Seraphiczero In reply to Abyssal-Berserker [2010-11-18 02:21:39 +0000 UTC]
Yes, it still transforms. I just haven't drawn the diagram. The transformation is exactly the same as the old version, so I don't really see much point in drawing that over again.
Thanks for the other faves, also. =o

lol. It's just that from the suits I've seen colored the majority of them are white. hum...maybe you should go with a few sades darker grays to reference Millardo's past as antagonist/rival.
