i like your art style and colouring a lot, and...

"China has donated 16 million US dollars while Hong Kong has donated 6.4 million US dollars, government officials said.

The rest of the international community has donated more than 2 million US dollars..."

So why is JAPAN the one holding the umbrella?

i'm sorry for being childish, it just seem to me like china's effort is being under-appreciated in taiwan (again) who gave the main role of her rescuer to japan, which in comparison didn't do as much. >__>

i hope you don't take this badly, i just feel china's role wasn't proportionally represented...(...and i'm beating myself up for being so petty... ''>\\\< )

Oh....you think too much...

The umbrella does not mean anything.

I just want to thanks that Japan give us a hand at first time, even if they has also the disaster at the same time.

We are grateful to all countries that help us.

We will not be more grateful for someone just because their contributions are more than other

yah, i do think too much; can't help it; my brain is probably wired weirdly.

"We will not be more grateful for someone just because their contributions are more than other" - i find that difficult to understand; if someone helped you more then shouldn't you thank them more? but maybe that's just me with my obsession over equivalent trade, lawlz.

Ah well, you know how it is. It IS just a piece of artwork for a fandom after all and not a news report, so there's no obligation for being objective or neutral or anything as such (and even when the obligation is suppose to be there it's usually not adhered to anyway...and I don't really know how you'd demonstrate that using Hetalia characters lol). Besides, the artist has her right to his/her opinions and to his/her way of the interpretation of events. 不用计较这些啦,中国帮忙是中国愿意,他们怎么样对待我们也就管不了那吗多了。

Yes I know so I apologize beforehand for my pettiness. It could have been a complete coincidence how this art piece triggered my feelings and reminded me of (what I believe is) Taiwan’s general attitude towards China and Japan: unequal distribution of credits. I know I have a tendency of reading wayyy too deep than I should, and I’ll apologize again for letting my uneasiness ruin everyone’s good, and heart warming mood towards this amazing art piece. 我没有像计较这么多,我也知道中国帮台湾不是全部应为“爱”,可是帮了忙还是帮了忙,一个真心的感谢是应该的。 >w<

(And thanks for replying for me to the other comments, I really didn’t have enough energy to go on. XD)

The obvious reasons was.... Japan was one of the first countries that responded to Taiwan's tragedy.

Don't ever use "who donated more" to judge who "cared more"

and to be honest, Japan respect Taiwan much more then China does.

"Don't ever use "who donated more" to judge who "cared more""
<--That depends on the situation and who's lending that helping hand. In such case as China vs Japan I'd say yes, you have to take into consideration which country has more money to spare. Clearly certain nations are in a position to donate more under these circumstances because they have more money in the bank. If, however, it was a comparison of two countries who have the same or relatively same amount of reserves and are comparatively at the same level of development yet one donates many times more, I'd say one would be justified to use that as at least one factor in determining who 'cares' more.

"and to be honest, Japan respect Taiwan much more then China does."
<--I'm sorry, but that's an opinion, not a fact. I'm positive there would be people who would disagree.

zeldacw In reply to koneko-desu [2009-08-17 18:27:37 +0000 UTC]

Due to many issues including the economics and earthquake preparations, Japan cannot afford to donate as much.

China has many wealthy corporations who can donate so much money without blinking, but don't forget the Chinese working-class people get paid very VERY little for their labors.

Just don't use money to weigh people's heart.

and when I stated Japan respect Taiwan more then China does, I am not talking about the general Japanese and Chinese "people", but the government.

I'll stop...because political issues shouldn't be discussed here on such beautiful art works of

Right, as I said before, "in such case as China vs Japan I'd say yes, you have to take into consideration which country has more money to spare. Clearly certain nations are in a position to donate more under these circumstances because they have more money in the bank". At the same time, "if, however, it was a comparison of two countries who have the same or relatively same amount of reserves and are comparatively at the same level of development yet one donates many times more, I'd say one would be justified to use that as at least one factor in determining who 'cares' more".

Regardless of whether you were referring to the government or people of each respective country it is still an opinion and not a fact.

zeldacw In reply to koneko-desu [2009-08-18 06:00:44 +0000 UTC]

What are you trying to prove by debating with me like this? You want to prove that China cares more about Taiwan just because they donated more money? Fine...although it's just your opinion and not a fact, I'll respect that.

It'll be nice if the world is a big loving family like this lovely comic. but unfortunately no.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Yuliu In reply to zeldacw [2009-08-18 17:17:35 +0000 UTC]

simple fact: you would care more for those that are blood related to you than those who are not. period. (regardless of how much money is involved.)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

zeldacw In reply to Yuliu [2009-08-18 18:43:13 +0000 UTC]

that's your opinion too. not a fact.
I've known people who care about friends more then family.

不過說到底還真是怪了!
日本是第一時間出手幫忙的國家
Seraph單純照實畫出來而已
連這種事都拿來計較?
"China's effort is being under-appreciated in Taiwan (again)"

Yuliu In reply to zeldacw [2009-08-18 23:43:59 +0000 UTC]

using exceptions in a comeback is weak.

the japanese race cannot possibly care about the chinese race more then the chinese care about the chinese race. (regardless of how much money was involved or who jumped into the boat first) that was the point i was trying to make.

so, please stop bullshitting in chinese about of how i expect taiwan to "repay" china (or me personally since you mentioned it) in anyway. i merely want the proper respect that china deserves but doesn't always get because we are not a democratic nation.

this fanart, by coincidence, reminded me of how taiwan always saw japan at a higher position even though china often did more. (i am sure now that wasn’t what seraphlei was trying to depict)

[and, trying to target my character by saying “ people like you” is a very low move.]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

zeldacw In reply to Yuliu [2009-08-19 05:29:25 +0000 UTC]

o...k...?
so, may I ask what IS this "proper respect" that you want?

This fan-art simply used real life event: Japan was the first who helped, and so Seraphlei drew Japan appearing first.

Who was the one overreacting with this comic in the first place? YOU.

That's exactly why I had to say "people like you", because it was you. I don't see how it's a "low move".

I'll stop wasting my time now...

I'm not trying to prove anything, simply stating my opinion just as you did. I don't think any country "cares" or "respects" any country more than any other, they take advantage of each other when they feel the need to and are able to and they lend a helping hand if circumstances so demand and they are feeling generous. I don't think China "cares" more about Taiwan because they donated more money and if you'd read my comment carefully you'd notice what I said reflects that.

Kimbledimble In reply to Yuliu [2009-08-17 03:03:13 +0000 UTC]

It's the artists interpretation. She in no way implies that Japan did more. If anything, it's being seen as a kind gesture, which Japan did indeed do for Taiwan.
I think you may be looking a little TOO much into this. Your comment was, to say the least, very rude. If you can delete it and reword it, it'd probably be best.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

koneko-desu In reply to Kimbledimble [2009-08-17 04:08:10 +0000 UTC]

The drawing itself is the artist's interpretation but art is interpreted differently by each viewer who are also entitled to their own interpretations and opinions. The commentator did not swear, was not mean, and although in your opinion it may have been rude I don't see how so. She/he simply asked a question that she/he as a viewer of the artwork has, I think she/he is entitled to at least that much. The artist has the option to answer or not, the commentator did not forcefully demand an answer in any way.
