look, you do not talk against racism by actually showing exactly that. Or what do you think complaining about certain body traits is?

You see, until you brought it up, all I ever saw was nations representend by manga figures. Or do you think replicating western hypocracy will ever solve race issues?

see what you're talking about is denial. you want everyone to forgive and forget what happens even though the things people have done are still here and they're still effecting the world today.
do you really think that these singular acts of kindness are going to magically make the united states and racism better?
places that have been colonized by europeans have gone through wide-scale brainwashing. killing people who would not convert to christianity and enslavement. entire languages lost and forced conversion to latin text.
now wouldnt it be PERFECT if we all just all forgot about this?

Forget? no. Forgive? absolutely.
Or what is your solution? Pushing blames around and repeat this circle indefintely?
And please get away from this holier then you apporach. It's not like Asia, Africa and other places have seen ugly atrocities, murder and death all by themselves.
If you deny people recognition for kindness, why should they go on doing so, hm?

yeah, they've sure have done some ugly things, but not on the scale of entire continents and countries being stripped their culture, rights, and self pride.
you're talking about some sort of circle. uhh, when was the last time any asian country invaded the united states...
and it sounds like you're just flat out lying with the "Forget? no" because it seems like you dont want any of these things to be mentioned
If you forgive people for atrocities, why shouldn't they go on doing so, hm?

...WTF are you talking about? You go back and forth between arguments. First you say that countries in Asia "have done some ugly things, but NOT on the scale of entire continents and countries being stripped of their culture, rights, etc" or genocide, and yet in other posts you reverse that statement by saying how Japan did just that (in Korea and China for instance), as China then did in Tibet and in other countries. Also you talk about how Spain committed genocide against the Mexicans, but the Mexicans themselves committed genocide (and enslavement) of the natives and about 1.4 million of their own people (and they even promoted slavery just as much as the U.S. had). I'm not defending it on either side of course. I'm pointing out that this type of thing isn't "only characteristic of America, Germany, Japanese, Spain" and "Westerners." In fact, I can't name a single race in the world that hasn't committed mass genocide, slavery, or propelled racism. On these grounds shouldn't you just say that "everyone is evil " instead of focusing on Alfred in the comic and calling the Taiwanese artist a "white supremacist" and other nonsense because she happened to draw him with blonde hair?
If you hate everyone so much, why not talk about how Germany has blonde hair, which means he's clearly a white supremacist. And how Taiwan is asian, which means she's clearly an asian supremacist. And how Japan is wearing a kimono and has black hair, which means he's also clearly an asian supremacist. If you're going to be that racist and hate-filled of a wanker, at least do it evenly.

lol im not going to read your bullshit
its as simple as this
there are more artists in asia who think light hair and light eyes is more exciting then there are artist in europe that think that asian features are more exciting
its that simple, and you really are insecure about it, i can tell

Self pride is not something that can be stripped away, that is something that can only be given up. Europe is a continent that waged wars primarily against itself, on scales never expirienced in any other areas around the globe. So I think I know what I am talking about.
What are you complaining about, btw? By your devart info, you are american yourself.
And about your last question, maaaybe because they already stopped in doing so? Or when was the last time the US invaded an asian country, hm? Last time I checked, it were the japanese attacking the US, while in the aftermath america was "asked" to intervene both in Korea and Vietnam.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Maxwellolive In reply to Gammelpreusse [2009-12-18 12:11:55 +0000 UTC]
wow it really cant be stripped away? so if i take away your house, force you to convert to another religion and make you speak another language for 5 years so you cant communicate with the rest of your family, that has nothing to do with self pride huh?
oh the u.s. has stopped doing it? thats why they're in the middle east right now?
hmm the japanese attacked one time, lets see 2400 soldiers dead 68 civilians killed, not at all provoked by sending the entire u.s. fleet to pearl harbor at all
hmm lets see, the Philippine–American War 1,000,000 civilians dead
both vietnam and korean wars each had more the 5 million people dead half being civilian casualties
and dont give me this BULL SHIT on how they were asked to come there, it was all part of the cold war and they invaded those countries just like they're invading all of the middle east right now
you have a very obscured romanticism about the way countries work.
try taking a history class that isn't directly funded and controlled by the government

because im defending against racism im a victim... right...
im japanese and mexican
japan has some of the worst racists out there and for some reason asians in the united states look up to them because japan is up to date with pop culture despite the amount of killings and rape japan had done across asia
im mexican, but im a white mexican, my whole family is very light sinned and is somewhat wealthy. if anything we have mostly Spanish blood. the Spanish killed most of the indigenous population of mexico and across south america. they forced them to change their names and convert to christianity. the spanish burned and destroyed most of the documents and history of the aztec and mayan civilizations seeking to erase them.
the more you comment the more you start sounding like a condescending bigot

You are not defending racism, your sprout it. You just label it defense, that is the difference. Nobody ever had a problem, or even made the connection until you came up with it, which is telling more about you then the artist.
And if you are what you claim, maybe instead of going into DA and flame artists with nothing but good intentions in mind, you may want to go talk to Neo Nazis and real racists. You are not becoming an anti race hero by having a go at a girl that did nothing else but show her gratitute.
If that stance makes me a bigot, then I can perfectly live with that.

oh im sorry
theres no such thing as racism out side of neo nazis right?
like segregation? that wasnt racist at all. they werent neo nazis so it cant be racist
and horror films, its not racist at all that the token black guy always dies first, thats just a coincidence of life, or maybe its social darwinism?
who cares! they weren't nazis so it doesn't matter
white flight

thanks, I know my history, that's why I am talking to you, because if you notice it or not, you are a typical example how it starts. But I am breaking this off now, we are going in circles and you rather argue indefinitely then apologizing to the artist. The best racists are those stating they fight racists. I do know that phenomen all to well indeed.

you know the funny thing is, everything ive been saying, you've avoided and tried making new arguments
ok lets see your solution to my problem, not anyone elses
we avoid ever bringing up anything bad about countries(apparently that's not forgetting)
we dont give any respect to victims and look down upon them
we label anyone who points out racism and says they fight for against racist, a racist
we deny that any white person has privileges over anyone else
and we forgive everyone for what they've done, even if they're still occupying the land that they stole from a genocide war
yeah you're not a racist at all...

does it really matter what America looks like? atleast America (the country) is represented in a kind, caring, and compassionate way. I'm an American, and though im not a blonde haired blue eyed person, i'm not offended that my country happens to be represented as a blonde Caucasian. Remember that Japan wrote this anime, not some white supremist group, and some of them still think of Americans as "blonde hair and blue eyes". Why would someone who is Japanese, believe in white supremacy? Honestly?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Maxwellolive In reply to Leanne-McGrand [2009-09-28 03:27:35 +0000 UTC]
but america is not a kind caring and compassionate country with the invasion of countries calling them "police acts" and human rights violations
not to mention the amount of racism there is on the media and news
im not saying you shouldn't love america or its traditions but defending the government is kind of a very ignorant thing to do with the amount of atrocities it has committed
and yes it matters what america looks like because its made of multiple cultures and if anything blond blue eyed people are scarce in this country
i dont know if you noticed but japan system of government was destroyed and replaced with an american based on. so if you think japan is somehow devoid of this white supremacy notion with the amount of blond blue eyed people(a trait that only comes from europe) in their anime shows and with english titles, you must be either blind or stupid to not think that there isn't a hint of white supremacy in japan

also, Hetalia's setting is WWII, which was in the 1940s. back then, Japan's image of Americans were blonde haired blue eyed people because thats mainly what they saw thru tv, magazines, films, and the caucasian soldiers. i mean, just look at what America (the character in hetalia) is wearing! It's old style 1940s clothes.

there is a defining line between admiration of a race and "white supremacy". i dont really want to spam this poor person's picture with a debate about politics, but i will say this, America is a lot better than some other nations that are strictly and completely intolerant of other peoples' cultures and religions. We have so many freedoms compared to some other countries. And as for racism in the U.S. and government, our president is a black man. doesnt that say anything positive?
