I have a ball python! His name is Butterfinger! 

I have to sell him soon though due to lack of space for his enclosure. (even though he's just a baby :C ) he's a pastel morph.

That looks awesome!  For scales, I would try a thin, brown, medium opacity brush and just draw half circles until you're sick of drawing half circles.

Snakes are way cute! 

( My mother used to bring home wild snakes for me. <3 I had a one - A garter snake - that I named Mint. We used to let him around the house and then let him outside and he always stayed close to the house so we always found him. He was very friendly and didn't act scared when we would pick him up. One day my neighbor thought it would be funny to run Mint over with his bike.. :/ We kept him inside hoping he might recover but he passed away that night.. The next day my brother and I smashed rocks through the neighbors bedroom window. )
