Description Bryce 7.1Pro

When I get frustrated with MB3D, sometimes open Bryce and play with it. A classic abstract was the result. Thinking of frustrations, then I should work with this program much more often! It always gives me some ideas only limited by scary render times.

Incredible reflections & light This piece looks fantastic, busyΒ  and calm at the same time.
Bryce seems like very good software, I never tried it.

Thanks for the right on spot comment!
Bryce is an excellent unfairly underrated program. It was the first real 3D software I tried. It's interface is unique. Some get used to it and others just can't get started. Main problem I encountered is precisely the interface. I got used to it and then couldn't get around other 3D programs which have similar interfaces very different to the one Bryce has.

I must try Bryce too! - some rainy day. Having plenty software to explore in my pc already.
My first 3d program was/is Mandelbulber 1.08,Β  an old version. Started using it a year ago (quite the beginner).
The GUI is a major obstacle in that too..Β  The software is good, but slow compared to Mb3D
Only just started using Mb3D 1.89 a month ago - Fun & quick, I think, and I love the animation-feature...Β

You seem to be a versatile artist and guess you won't have much trouble with it. Make sure it's a very rainy day/s In its moment, I investigated Mandelbulber and opted for MB3D. It was a good choice. It's generally fast, but encountered some very long renders too.
Your gallery makes me more curious now.

'artist' U r too kind!
If anything, I'm a guitar player..Β  Visual art is a new language to me.
A relaxing hobby
I go digital, computers are far better than me at drawing and painting.
So, it says 'Fractal tourist' on my profile page. Totally half-serious mostly!
Thx for the compliment & Be well, Sergio!

You play the guitar, so you ARE an artist! Visual art is a hobby for me too. Since I don't have an academic art education, though I was artistically inclined since my childhood, computers became a great tool to express myself. Quite the same as you
Always welcome Hans!

Gorgeous!Β  I have Bryce as well, and need to get my Dell reformatted and Windows reinstalled before I reinstall it, then get serious!Β  It has been years since I used it, and I don't even remember how to install all the thousands of goodies I have.Β  Geez, it will be a real challenge!Β  Β

SergioKodemo In reply to Leanndra51 [2015-04-22 13:37:40 +0000 UTC]

Thanks Lea! Really looking forward for you getting serious. It's so difficult at first; almost relearning everything. When you least expect it you are on the run again. Do you have Bryce 5.5 or 7? Don't worry too much about the goodies at first. There's still a lot to do straight from the box.

Leanndra51 In reply to SergioKodemo [2015-04-22 18:24:49 +0000 UTC]

oh, I have 5.5. 6.0 or is it 5.1, then I have 6.3, and I also have 7 pro.Β  I have probably 3 dvds of content.Β  Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SergioKodemo In reply to Leanndra51 [2015-04-22 19:52:43 +0000 UTC]

Oh what a mess! I have 5.5 (with content) and 7.1Pro. Since everyday life sucks and wanted a return to digital art, decided to simplify things and started to work directly on version 7.1. If things get better, less complicated and relaxed, might try to import content from 5.5. If not...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Leanndra51 In reply to SergioKodemo [2015-04-23 22:36:38 +0000 UTC]

You can safely do that, I had mixed content from 5.5, 6.3 and in 7, but I really like 6.3 the best.Β  Some of the lighting isn't quite the same in 7 as it was in some of the earlier versions.Β  Don't know why.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SergioKodemo In reply to Leanndra51 [2015-04-24 18:01:18 +0000 UTC]

Guess I can. Don't know if I can easily import stuff in .3ds format as in 5.5...provided I remember how that was done! Have forgotten so much about Bryce! For now, I'm not really worried.
Interesting what you say about lighting. It was such a long gap between using 5.5 and 7.1 that haven't noticed anything. Perhaps it's only me, but did notice a difference using the straight from above camera view. It was almost useless for me in 5.5 but could do some very good positioings on 7.1. About 6.3, have no idea, never had it.

Leanndra51 In reply to SergioKodemo [2015-04-25 14:43:16 +0000 UTC]

I have never imported anything into Bryce other than I tried rendering a few flames.Β  There used to be this artist whose name I don't recall now, who rendered flames in Bryce and they were so amazing looking.Β  MB3D sort of reminds me a lot of his type of work.Β  But that is yet another program that I have yet to figure out too.Β

SergioKodemo In reply to Leanndra51 [2015-04-25 23:15:04 +0000 UTC]

I don't remember either. Are we getting any younger?
I have mixed feelings towards MB3D. Should be focusing on Bryce and probably another 3D program, but MB3D is as bitchy as is addictive. Gave me so many frustrations that decently taming it became personal!

Ah, a love-hate relationship with MB3D, huh?Β Β Β  No we aren't getting any younger!Β  Β Β Β  I have sculptris alpha, but haven't messed with it, and also have zbrush and haven't messed with it either.Β  I am just not good with tutorials!Β

ZBrush caught my attention time ago. Like you, I'm a disaster with tuts. Only begin to understand something AFTER learning how to get around a prog!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Leanndra51 In reply to SergioKodemo [2015-04-27 14:54:44 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, my problem is that most programs are complex enough that I don't know how to get around in them.Β  Too many things.Β  It is almost like I get sensory overload and it short circuits my mind. It is very, very frustrating.Β  Grrrr!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SergioKodemo In reply to Leanndra51 [2015-04-28 23:56:17 +0000 UTC]

Once thought about learning as many progs that interested me as I could. Of course, everyday life and my own limitations brought me back to reality. We belong to a generation whose minds work in a different way. Less technical and more artistic and spontaneous perhaps? Guess our ideas are too far ahead of our skills.
It's frustrating indeed, but could somewhat cheat on it by working on only 2 progs now. For the time being, it works for me. Hope you can make the best choices that suit you best.
Nice talking to you Lea!

I know you do, since you are so versatile. It's a so unfairly underrated and fascinating program. You never stop learning it, but the good part is that you can get good results fast, and that's encouraging.
Really like most of what Sergio does with it.
