Ancient civilizations, often mysterious and misunderstood, were our masters. But who were the masters of our masters?

An offspring project from  and

Asked a dear friend to compare 2 versions of the above image with her sharp eye. Her conclusions were most useful and I thank you dearly
Here is the revised version.

PS: I replaced the original image and all statistics, and worst of all priceless comments vanished. Just realized where I screwed up, so sorry about this!

Thanks Bro! You can imagine the worst part was cutting and masking the fractal to fit the idea. It was sheer fun anyway

Whoa! I can just imagine how different Ancient Egypt would be if these structures were standing around...

Awesome manipulation!

Thanks Charles, very appreciated! There have been throughout history small even fortuitous events that ended up changing it! Kind of a butterfly effect

Anytime Sergio - that's a great way to say it; even in modern times, we can't be completely certain what exactly happened back then!

SergioKodemo In reply to Sabine62 [2015-06-26 16:36:21 +0000 UTC]

I would, but have anything really precise and accurate to tell them. It's probably me who screwed up somewhere. My only hope is some bug at DA where in the More From section images I deleted years ago may still rarely appear. I did report it to DA, and I'm afraid they fixed the bug, but this was for deletions. Since waking up this morning nothing seemed to go right, one of those days better devoted to basic stuff only. It's early in the afternoon here and the day is already ruined. In a short while, will have to go and see one of my pupils. Poor guy if things keep on developing this way!

SergioKodemo In reply to Sabine62 [2015-06-28 16:05:19 +0000 UTC]

LOL, I was.
At least, what do you think of the change in the image? It was easy to isolate the sky in Photoshop, and in Selective Correction, I applied a touch of white to both blue and cyan hues. Then inverted the selection and applied that bit of contrast the original lacked. I'm happier with the result, looks more natural. Thanks for your always welcome impressions!

Sabine62 In reply to SergioKodemo [2015-06-28 17:52:39 +0000 UTC]

Ahhh, sorry yes, of course!!! I was so distracted by your loss of comments... I like it like this! The horizon might have been maybe even 'dirtier'/lighter (but that is Really only me with my strange taste for skies!) but I love how the structures and goddess now stand out much more in the scorching sunlight! I might have tried for even more contrast, but hey, I Like overexposure in images ;} Good work, Sergio!

SergioKodemo In reply to Sabine62 [2015-06-28 18:24:56 +0000 UTC]

No worries, I was so distracted too that forgot to ask.
You may be right about the horizon. Just tried to recreate what I remember from sandy desolate places. When selecting the sky, I used a 10px tolerance and there was a subtle above-below gradient. Had to make more clicks than expected for the selection.
The rest of the image can still take more contrast, but would have compromised some dark areas. Photoshop's automatic contrast tool is usually very accurate. If I'm still not satisfied, I work on it manually. Interesting, I like some overexposure too!
Thanks Sabine!

Sabine62 In reply to SergioKodemo [2015-06-29 07:26:26 +0000 UTC]

Maybe that is another reason why I don't feel much like meddling in Bryce. In MB3D all the colours and horizons and the whole lot go all by themselves (at least that is how it feels). Sometimes I let Irfanview enhance the contrast just a tad, and that's it for post work. I am so lazy!!!! :}
Always a pleasure, my friend!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SergioKodemo In reply to Sabine62 [2015-06-29 17:55:32 +0000 UTC]

If you were so lazy, you wouldn't stand MB3D Admit it does a lot of things for you, but then...
Just grabbed it to play for a while and again, nothing It's clear by now that both you and the program have become a smooth working team. It's a matter of personality. Presume that for this same reason, you wouldn't get along well with Bryce.
