Description
Lorn steadied herself, looking over the new opponent. It was a rather intimidating fellow, a hallow creature made of coppery metal, and something was oddly familiar about it. Oddly familiar indeed. She jumped out of the way as it went after her, returning the speed and fury she had unleashed on Seto moments before. It's fighting style was powerful. Each slash was thrown like it could end the world, like it could take on a hundred people in one go. Of course, that's when it hit her. It was just like the bear of Vidarus, the very one that came out of nowhere and crushed a dozen of bandits under its mighty paws, helping her and the several others around out. So that's who she was fighting against. While still grateful for that assistance so long ago, she knew better than to let it affect her judgement. That golem was against her now. She tried to focus on the master, think of a plan, but had no choice to stay on her toes. This was going to be a much harder fight than she was hoping for, but nothing she couldn't handle. She held up her sword, and she and the mantis began to dance.Seto was standing squarely now, concentrating his all into the mantis. Like a conductor he made the golem dance around, slashing, guarding, dodging, countering. Each attack had to be caught and blocked, each move had to be seen and made. Metal clashed and it clanged, but neither opponent was thrown or overcome. Although disadvantaged with one sword against two sharp knives, Lorn kept the mantis at bay, matching each strike with grace. At the same time however, the metal insect did not back down, and did not allow her any shot at the weaker parts of it's metal body. Until she got creative that is.
A burst of flame erupted ever so suddenly into the mantis. Both a shock to the golem and it's master, the creation attempted to dodge, and that was just what she wanted. SLLLLIIIIIICE! The glorious right claw of the golem was sent right off, clattering to uselessness on the dirty arena floor, but that was not the end of it. She wouldn't let it be. With his weapon thrown temporarily out of operation, she grabbed ahold of the first opening she could find, and took it right into the defenseless master behind. His eyes widened.
"AAAAAAAAGGGGGHH!!!!!"
In seconds, the sword sliced through his abdomen like a hot barb and he was left crumpling to the ground. He kept himself on hand and knees, refusing to go any lower, but this new pain was excruciating, unlike any other he had felt before. Slowly, he pulled up the hand that had raced to cover the pain, and to his horror it was died crimson. The knight had got him good. He bit down and swallowed, starting to shiver. No. How could he have been so careless only minutes in? He shut his eyes.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Blow after blow he dealt, and then, the cornered snake bit. Zerrick let out a yell, dropping the teen and stumbling backwards. Blood dripped from a newly sliced cut into his left arm, and Seto was standing back, broken but proud. A crooked dagger smeared with blood was clenched in his right hand.
"Heh, I'm weak, huh? Then do tell me that was?" Seto asked. Zerrick looked up and smirked half-heartedly.
"That wasn't bad," he said, glad that the match wasn't so one-sided, but then again, it wasn't good either. The sword came back out. SHNK! For something that seemed like the savior of a hopeless situation, how quickly and easily it was overtaken. There was not a hint of difficulty in the dagger being liberated from his hands. It landed far across the arena, and Seto was left aghast, open for attack once again. The blacksmith slammed the lightweight fighter across the stadium like rag doll and watched as he bounced and tumbled. Samu rolled into a spread eagle in the center of the stadium. Zerrick squinted his eyes, hoping that had done the trick. Not quite.
Seto was starting to get up again, but weak and slowly. He was aching more than ever, and his eyes could barely stay open now. The sun was glaring down on him, frying him. Everything was turning against him. Everything was starting to blur.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lorn had done it. The move had taken a toll, and now with it's master out of control, the mantis was blind. Wildly, it charged at it's own instinctual accord, desperate to defend it's master from the final blow, and of course, the woman saw such a brash move a mile away.
SHHHHHHHNNNK!
Down clattered the rest of his golem, in pieces. Seto's eyes exploded back open, hearing the cry of his poor creation. He was next, he had to hurry. He tried to stand back up, but the sheer pain of reality seared through body. He was bleeding, and no matter what he did, he was time was slowly ticking a by. His summoning magic had a minute to recuperate. Nothing was standing between him and Lorn's last blow. Still, he grabbed the earth under him and concentrated. He needed to win this.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
This was it. Zerrick had started the charge. Seto couldn't think, he couldn't summon, he couldn't fight. He was going to lose the first round of the tournament like some weakling, but who was he kidding? He never wanted to sign up to be some hero anyway. The government could have their pathetic hero. All the teen wanted was something to lie on, something like a big fluffy sheep.
One sheep.
Two sheep.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
"Three sheep, four sheep," Seto began to mutter. Drawing the pain from his mind as pulled the shawl from around his neck and began to wrap it around his wound. He pulled it tight. "Five sheep, sttthhh, Six sheep."
Lorn's footsteps grew closer. He stood up, and turned to face her. "Seven sheep..."
She readied her sword and Seto's eyes narrowed. ".............................. Eight sheep," he said.
"Hu-KYAH!" BAM! Without notice at all, the knight was slammed into the arena wall, a certain metal sheep at the other end. However, Lorn did not let this blessing dwindle for long, and forced the golem back with a swing of her sword
"Nine sheep." Then came the second, and this one didn't get so lucky. Lorn caught sight of the incoming golem in a heartbeat and with thrust her sword out to greet it's head. However, the golem remembered that trick, and with a blink, it jumped back, and allowed the other one to try again. Once more however, Lorn caught sight of the attempt and the sheep was forced to dodge again.
Seto was steadier than ever now. He looked sharply at his opponent, hands tightened. "Ten sheep."
The knight looked around, waiting, expecting, all the while keeping a good eye on the two already on field. She couldn't see the next one though, that was until...
BAM!! Lorn had just barely a second to escape as the huge ram to fall out the sky right for her. The tenth sheep. She braced herself as the ram stamped the ground while the others gathered for a mass attack. Seto walked over ever so slightly and pulled himself onto the golem's back. He was ready to turn this around.
The sheep charged, and one by one, passed by Lorn lunging and dodging, all bouncing around her. She slashed at them only to meet air, false lunges, and swipes, and then... a tri-attack. All three sheep spread themselves out around her, heads lowered and hoofs grating the ground. And then they charged. One went down to her sword, two went down, but there was no way she could have taken them all. BAM! The last ram's great horns slammed into her back, shoving her aside. She found herself sliding across the arena. It brought some gasping to her throat, but she was far from done in. The ram began to charge again. Lorn raised her sword, and Seto barely had the time to react before he was sent flying off his steed.
