I'm new to blackbox, i just wanted to know what 3dc is and what I do with it. I'm assuming that spider in a box is the best interface for bb4w at the moment.

If you load the plugin BBColorEx you will see that your syscolors changes.
You don't need the 3dc file if the the 3dc is merged in the style file. Look at the end of the style file for something like this:
! -- start 3dc
numbers
numbers
numbers
.
.
.
! -- end
If there is you don't need ....3dc file.
Download BBColorEx and read the readme.txt
