Description My Zydrate gun, built for fun over a few days. Not totally screen accurate, but I like it. I'm planning on changing a few details, like getting a longer vial and changing the vial clip to metal.

Here's what I started with: [link]

Modifications included:

Cutting away trigger parts and gun body parts
Adding assorted pieces
Tapping new screw holes into the gun body, a bit of metal work I've not done in years.

This is great! I've got a question for you. I'm dressing up as Graves for Halloween this year, and I've already found and bookmarked instructions on how to make the actual gun, which my dad is going to help me do. What I would like to know is what you made your Zydrate from and how you went about "tweaking" it to give the Glow its, well, glow.

I thought about using the glowing Mt. Dew trick until learning that it's a fraud, and glowsticks just aren't quite as bright as I think Zydrate should glow, you know what I mean? So I've been looking around for instructions on how to make some, and someone in a chatroom suggested something involving glow-in-the-dark nail polish, which I might end up doing, but I saw this and figured that before I go about making any fincal decisions, I might as well go ahead and ask what exactly it is YOU did to make this and get it to glow.

Anyway, great job making the gun, it looks awesome! I'm too lazy to look at the link you put up to what you started with, lol, so excuse me for asking this, but what did you use as the actual gun? Was it one of those detail spray-paint guns? The instructions I found that my dad and I are going to be using for mine start off with one of those, we're going to be taking the bits and pieces off then getting rid of the color on the gun itself using some sort of steel wire rotating brush or something, which apparently removes the paint or whatever through the process of abrasions or something like that, and then comes the fun part where we get to fiddle around with the trigger and nozzle and stuff so I can put my little glass vial into the gun like a battery (no regrets! XD), then go off and find some scalpel sluts to shoot 'em nice 'n good with some freshly harvest Z! ;D

God, everyone in this fandom is just so insanely fucked up in the head and out of our minds, aren't we?
AND WE LOOK GOD DAMN FABULOUS DOING IT, BITCHEZ!!! XD

LOL Yes, but we look awesome doing it!

Anyway, the pic you left your comment on was the first vial that didn't glow, but if you mean like this: sethbramwell.deviantart.com/ar…

Then here you go: Β Start with a plastic test tube with a hollow, translucent cap (www.ebay.com/itm/Clear-Plastic… and fill it with blue hair gel from a dollar store (LOL)

Next, put the cap on and wrap it with black electrical tape. Β This avoids the light going out the side. Β You will now need a balloon light (www.lightsforalloccasions.com/… . These are little lights designed to fit inside balloons to make them glow. They are tiny, self-contained (battery and all) twist on/off white LEDs. Β Just push the light end into the cap. Β BAM, GLOWING, BUBBLING ZYDRATE BABYBEE!

One note: Β Over time, the hair gel bubbles may settle or fall to one end. Β If this happens, use a flavor injector (AKA, big-@$$ syringe: www.webstaurantstore.com/table… to poke in and blow air bubbles that will stay suspended in the hair gel.

Very well done, and in my opinion Z-Guns are probably built by the Z-dealers themselves anyway, so it's okay if every model looks a bit different. If I might make a suggestion though: The plastic tube at the end may look better if you painted it metallic. It might fit better into the whole piece then.

Do you mean the plastic tube by the spring below the Zydrate tube?

Thanks for the feedback! I figured there were probably multiple "street" models cobbled together as well, besides the more polished ones made by GeneCo as well

Thanks! It was fun to do some metalwork again, it's been a long time.
