She grew quickly as a Soul, training every day to enter the Academy. After her schooling in the Academy, she graduated, but instead of going into a Division of the Gotei 13, she left to return home. Shigeru's family had picked a husband for her of a high-ranking Shinigami, who, although not necessarily a noble, had honor and a good reputation. At first, she struggled with getting to know her fiancee, but, having been raised to have this as her purpose, she endured.

Shigeru grew to love this man deeply. She had always had strong emotions, but she didn't know that it could feel this lovely to be with someone. They begun to plan a family, although not yet married, they would be soon. After their marriage, she found herself sad whenever he would leave to fulfill his Shinigami duties, and began to resent the Gotei 13 for their unrelenting justice. However, she found herself performing exceptionally well at housewife tasks, like cooking and weaving, despite being consistently alone, and thought maybe this was the perfect life for her.

Upon his return from a longer mission, Shigeru was frightened to realize he had forgotten about her. Not from time or distance, but it appeared an enemy Hollow had taken the memories of her from his mind. It was a fate worse than his death, for her, as he was quick to dismiss her and leave for another Shinigami whom he had become taken with. She truly couldn't believe that after all that time spent learning to love him and what love was she could have been left behind so easily. Those around her began to shun her as the heart-broken wife, and she duly isolated herself. Her fear of rejection again turned her into a woman without personal passion but lots of focus on her Shinigami duties. She re-enrolled in the Academy to learn more, and graduated top of her class without distraction. Her heartbreak was transferred into her studies, and her now-tepid personality makes her fit well into the 2nd Division.

As she grew further, her heart gently opened to more and more experiences and people. She moved Divisions and mastered her bankai, putting her whole into becoming the best Shinigami she could be so that a Hollow could never get the better of another Soul again. Unfortunately, she was only to be cursed again by falling in love with Aizen.

Zanpakuto: Shuten Douji [Little Drunkard]

Sealed Form: Shigeru's Zanpakuto is longer than the typical katana, like a nodachi, as well as being lighter in weight. Aside from a tan pommel and some stripes on the sheath, there are no special colors. Its tsuba is similar to the shape of a flower with many petals, and is gold in color.

Release Command: "Flush, Shuten Douji..."

Shikai: The shape of the sword, when in Shikai form, doesn't change. However, the sword begins to bubble and change in color to a deep black-purple and then drips to the ground. Since the sword itself loses shape to create the poison, Shigeru originally had a lot of trouble getting the metal to reappear. As soon as the first drops reach the ground, the puddle of poison spreads to a distance which can only be stopped or controlled by Shigeru. If, for example, it is stopped by a "room" without any means of spreading further, it can develop acidic properties to continue spreading. It appears useless in aerial combat, but she is able to just produce toxins from the Zanpakuto itself if it can't reach the ground.

Special Ability: Shuten Douji i is a poison-type Zanpakuto. Its specialty lies not in the fatality of the poison, which is spread into a large puddle onto the ground to keep enemies moving, but instead in its drug-like effects on the victim. Touching the poison, although dangerous to the nervous system, won't kill you. Only prolonged exposure can break down the central nervous system. As opponents of Shigeru move to avoid the poison on the ground and dripping from her Zanpakuto, she uses speed to pressure them. Bankai: TBA! She has achieved it, as she is 600+ years old, but I'm choosing not to reveal it yet haha just keep in mind that she achieved this sometime in the last 110 years and because of its effects she was transferred to the 12th division. As she transferred divisions, she parted on very good terms with Aizen's captain (he had become lieutenant at this point) and in turn grew close to Aizen. She immediately knew, because of talking with Hirako before and her own intuition, that he was not necessarily a good man--and seemed to have ulterior motives. However, Shigeru always was able to distract her mind from these possibilities and enjoyed being with him due to his calming presence and pleasant conversation.

They were simply good friends at this point, and it isn't for a good while after that she begins to fall for him. She still didn't notice Aizen's double nature when her captain in the 12th Division, Kisuke Urahara, was expelled from Soul Society with Hirako and the others. Like everyone else, she suspected nothing. After Aizen was promoted to captain, their relationship turned to a romantic one. It was never perfect, of course, but both shared in the pleasure of each others' company. She wasn't nervous about expressing her changing feelings to him because she felt they were so close (but she didn't really know him at all). In retrospect, Shigeru cannot tell whether Aizen only used her to make himself blend in even more with other Shinigami or he truly loved her.

When he betrayed Soul Society, she was broken for the second time in her life. She did not pursue him, or join the dark side or swear revenge, but instead simply stayed true to her duties. She was helped by her colleagues in the 12th Division and such duties, along with the breath of fresh air into the Shinigami that was Ichigo and his gang. Still loving Aizen even if he shockingly abandoned and humiliated her, Shigeru attempts to let go and avoids seeing or fighting him directly until he is defeated. They meet again when she asks to view him in Muken, which was a terrible mistake on her part, bringing back old feelings of betrayal and pain.

Ichimaru Gin - Gin and Shigeru knew each other since she had been close friends with Aizen when he began to train Gin. She didn't associate with him until he grew to adulthood and raised in the Shinigami ranks, upon which she really began to notice him.

They were always able to talk about things that would lighten Shigeru's mood and she enjoyed watching him and seeing his good humor. He loved her laugh and she loved his eagerness. Gin revealed to Shigeru that he had fallen for her as he got to know her. He probably would have revealed some of Aizen's nature to Shigeru, but she rejected his advances half-heartedly. The truth was Shigeru also had feelings for Gin, but repressed them in favor of her love towards Aizen (who she believed loved her). They managed to maintain a great relationship because Gin only wished for her to be happy. He wanted to warn her that she was with a monster, but he couldn't ignore that Aizen made her very happy. As a result, he could only apologize for not doing so when he left Soul Society and she was left heartbroken.
