-Hotaru has a very motherly feel to her. She tends to want to make people feel good, and it helps she has a very optimistic view on the world. Very go with the flow and happy-go-lucky she has a tendency to not let things get to her. She is very stubborn when it comes to her own health, and will lie and say she is fine when she really isn't. She has a tendency to be a bit overly protective of people she loves, and hates to see someone get hurt. It does take a long time to get more information about her past out of her because she is afraid what happened when she was younger will happen again if she gets close to people.

History: TW death-
-She was born to a rather rich family, and was in an arrange marriage by the time she was 14. She was able to slowly meet her betrothed, and eventually fell in love with him before she was married at 16. She had two children by the time she was 18, and was very happy, and made her family very happy in return. She thought this would last forever, but as many Demon Slayers learn, that was not meant to be.
He came in the night while they were asleep 6 years later right after she had given birth to her fourth child. Her husband had woken up to noise, but she had stayed sleeping due to exhaustion from the day before giving birth until she heard their screams. Rushing from her room she came to her children's room, and saw the carnage. Her husband was strewn across the floor, her children's throats ripped apart, and the demon holding her newest child in his hands, eating its flesh. Something inside her snapped, and she grabbed the nearest thing by her that could be used as a weapon, a very old sword that was hanging on the wall. Screaming she ran at the demon and slashed at him, fighting as best as she could. She didn't even notice when he had cut her several times, and she was bleeding out, she continued to fight.
It wasn't until a Demon slayer, who happened to be passing by her husbands manor, pulled her away from the demon did she realize she was close to passing out. She didn't know what happened next as she had passed out.

Hotaru would wake up days later at the Demon Slayer main estate, bandaged up, and alone. Informed of her family's passing she sobbed for days, but after almost a week she finally stopped, and promised she would seek revenge on every demon she could find. The Demon Slayer, who happened to be one of the Upper Hashira at the time was impressed by her resolve. It was odd that someone would become a Demon Slayer later in life, but the man took her under his wing, and would train her. By the same time next year she would try out for the Final Selection, and would rise in the ranks quickly.

Currently she is trying her best to become a stronger Demon Slayer to keep others safe so no one has to go what she went through.
