Something that has been in my WIP folder for too long.The drawing was actually completed back in 2012 but never got round to finishing the whole thing, so I'm happy now.
This painting is quite personal to me, as some may know I went to work my first winter season this past year and it went tragically wrong, a place I loved now has a mark of hate and misery plastered over it. A place of beauty which now rings only pain in my mind. I will now never return to this place and for this reason alone it brings me only anger to remember what happened, what disgusting and horrible some humans can be to one another.
Β A dream shattered and a future diverted.
Although this is not the end, I will not let this thwart my ambitions, and will try any means to avoid it (what happened) in the future.

I really like what you did with the wing design for Rabian; mixing the feathered regions with membranes gracefully by giving the membrane edges that look somewhat like primary feathers is a neat idea.

I am amazed by the detail in this picture. The snow and landscape is gorgeous. And that creature design is amazing. It looks like a combination of avian, insect and reptilian. I especially love how you combined butterfly wings with feathers. So cool.

I can tell that you don't want to talk specifically about what happened, but I just want to say that from experience-Karma gets around eventually and sets things straight. It might take awhile, but that's just because Karma wants the moment it strikes to have the maximum effect.

Aaawh, I still remember how you've struggled with the foreground for this painting. I absolutely love Rabians pose! He looks so lively and fluffy in that environment, like an arctic owl<3Β

He looks quite regal and impressive here, with his wide wings, tail fan and the two tail-pointy-thingies out of his backside there (lol such official teminology XD). I like the realism of the background, and the windswept appearance behind him. It looks like he's diving down the slope for a kill, like a rabbit or something that lives in snow.
It saddens me that you associate this place now with your negative experiences and your bitter resentment towards it. Do you associate only that one place, or all snowy ski places with this series of incidents?
I'm happy though that you're moving forward and not letting it derail you from your path, whatever it may be.

His colors fit so well with the background! It looks amazing.
Only his body shading looks a little bit... flat to me. I would give it a bit more contrast.

Thanks so much! I don't know why but I always seem to struggle with what brushes to use for digitally drawn characters XD I usually just base the character with the original sketch and it turns out quite well shaded but I can't get it on this one XD I'll be lazy and give him a contrast boost!

Rabian represents you in my eyes, skiing flying over the snow, down in the valley.

Yes I mean a high quality print on nice photopaper. Pfff my printer doesn't print that size and I want it to be DinA3 sized
