Description
Okay, I am going to tell you guys about the MMD Model anatomy compared to an actual humans. That way, I don't see broken spines and twisted necks anymore. Now although I am not perfect in my posing myself, I am going to be giving some tips to those of you who want some help. c:Keep in mind, this is for those who want to pose more natural or elegant poses rather than the funny random poses. xD
See these poses the models are doing? These poses are based off of a 3D human anatomy site called Pose Maniacs. These slightly edited poses are mimicking what the human body actually should look like when doing poses like these. (Although, Aoki's leg was giving me heck.. it still bugs me. )
Now, MMD models are in no way shape or form exactly like the human anatomy. Too many parts are too large or too small compared to a humans, that and they do not have a muscular system. The models are based on an artists style, so they have been changed up to fit that certain style rather than following the human body. Plus, they don't have as many bones as we do. "While the adult skeleton contains 206 bones, the skeleton of an infant contains 350 (the bones fuse together as you grow). And more than half of your 206 bones are found in your hands and feet." (Quote from here [link] .) Try to picture moving THAT many bones in an MMD model.
So in order to do a pose that is not too awkward or make the model look like their spine is dislocated, we need to try and mimic a muscular system. The model's skin is a somewhat good example. The skin stretches and moves with the body part as you pose it. If you twist a bone too much, the skin is twisted. The twisted joint is a perfect example of how you should NOT pose a model. Just picture your own skin and picture what that would feel like.
One way to make sure that your model does not need to go to the hospital, is to base a pose from either human models or taking a look at the human anatomy. Heck, you can even take a picture of yourself for reference! Now, even though I said a model is not like the actual human anatomy, there are several things that remain the same. Don't twist the body too much, don't bend arms or legs in a way they are not naturally supposed to go, and try to make the model look as natural or relaxed as you can. That way, they don't also look like they are too stiff or look like they need a back rub.
And that my MMD friends is an MMD Anatomy Lesson. C:

Doing good! C:
Might wanna try moving the front of the foot too. You do the same thing you did with the ankle, but you select the square at the toes.

Try moving the hips and the spine a little, so that the pose looks more natural.

The one in the middle is from windows 100, the one to the left is by kio, and the one on the far right is by Saboten. It isn't hard to find the left and right ones, but the middle one you have to buy. ^^'

Yeah, her anatomy sometimes bothers me too.... but then I forget about it because she is such a pretty model.
