I think that's why I like those nursery rhyme characters so much. They're supposed to be kid-friendly but they're really creepy...

Well, part of it is how you think of them, but yes, Humpy Dumpty's fate, for example, is pretty grizzly. They were so desperate to try to undo the splattered mess he had become that they put horses on the job.

Ha! Cheap labour... I usually take the sympathetic side, where Humpty is a stand-in for me in my paintings...fragile, exposed, vulnerable...

I don't need to cast aspersions on Humpty, all I know is that he became a historical medical disaster after falling from that wall, and that's pretty rough for kids to be presented with.
