An idea I had many many years ago, but never got around to finishing. I found the old sketch while looking through some things and immediately knew had to have another go at it. So, I redrew my first idea and added some things that weren't there originally. For example, James and Meowth were not present in my first sketch, neither was the close-up of the photograph Jessie is holding.If you haven't listened to or even heard of 'The Birth of Mewtwo' CD Drama, then this drawing might be a little confusing, as the photograph is a reference from that, as it was what Miyamoto (Musashi/Jessie's mother) would carry around with her, until it got swept away in a big gust of wind during her mission to find Mew.
I think this idea works for whether you believe Jessie actually knew her mother and remembers her, or if you think she never knew her at all and was so young that she doesn't remember Miyamoto. Whatever you think is true, it would still be quite a shock to find an old photo of yourself in a place you've never been to before.
And who knows? Maybe seeing that would bring back some past memories that Jessie might have buried deeply into the back of her mind.
Also, in case anyone doesn't know, the Japanese on the back says Musashi (Jessie's Japanese name). I could've made it say 'Jessie' but I like the Japanese, and besides that is it's original source. ^_^
Oh, and I could resist more unnecessary touching, he he he. Gotta have some Rocketshipping in there somewhere.

Today was a pretty bad day actually. That's why it was so nice to see a new picture from you.
Now that I've had time to look it over more, I LOVE Musashi's eyes. You captured so many emotions with that look.
And Kojiro's touching and Nyasu's cuteness was great as well. But everyone already said that.

aaaw, it is heartbreaking. and yeah, I have heard the CD Drama, and loved it, and it was so touching that when Jessie's mom has met Mew and talked to Mew about her daughter... and now after so many years, this said daughter finds a photo... sad..

It's something I had been hoping the anime might've gotten around to by now, but since it hasn't (and probably never will), I had to make it myself. I just really hope it isn't depressing everyone too much.

The snow episode from Kanto, where Jessie made food out of snow, they lost their hot air balloon and they had stay awake as not freeze to death? I'm assuming that's the one. ^^

Yep! I took a break from watching it on a regular basis, but after watching some recent Diamond & Pearl episodes I got back into it and am back to watching it as each new episode comes out. ^_^

Yeah, it is heartbreaking, but I have to draw something of this nature to balance out all the zany happy stuff. And on the plus side, I didn't go ahead with the original idea of having Jessie on her own to deal with it.

I think Musashi never knew her mother, but Miyamoto got that photo from a foster home teacher or something... And she kept it, until she would finally have the money to raise her daughter herself... Which never happened of course ;_;
