My second entry 's Pokemon Community Collaboration Gen III collab! I have been wanting to do a proper piece of Camerupt for a while so I was excited to get to draw Camerupt for the collab as well.

I'm just going to start right away by stating that yes, Camerupt is based on a camel BUT its overall anatomy is much stockier, shorter and overall heavier than a camel's. The camel features I see in Camerupt are mostly the bumps and some stuff that is going on in the face. As for the rest of the creature I looked for references of bisons, musk oxes, big, stocky herbivores that will just stomp you. There is so much intimidating power about those beasts and I think that power also fits Camerupt that is also a slow ground type.

When I picked Earth Power as the move to depict I knew I would need something dynamic going on and round and blocky as Camerupt is that dynamism needed to be more like raw, relentless force that makes the earth shake and lava plumes shoot out from the cracks of the earth. For that purpose imagery of charging musk oxes was just excellent. There is weight and force in the movements of these animals, exactly what I needed for this Camerupt piece.
