Description
Sable thought to herself as she tried to look around the corner to see the status of her team mate Cobalt Archer. Archers call for assistance had been cut off mid transmission as she investigated a failed call in for from one of Dream Haven's premiere Bio-Engineering labs.Β Sable arriving to find the main complex deserted moved deeper into the building finding several desiccated bodies and spider websΒ the deeper she went. Moving into one of the underground labs, Sable found her missing team mate laying on the ground and covered by spider webbing. A large shadow and loud hissing stopped her from getting closer as the largest spider she had ever seen charged at her with its arms raised to attack. Ducking behind barrier frame, Sable readied herself for the fight ahead. I really fucking hate spiders ...Blonde Sable and Cobalt archer are my OC's and cannot be used without my permission.

So, this is a very well done image.
Great background/setting with some complicated but somewhat subtle lighting - multiple light sources, but they don't jump out like a sunrise or anything because they're just little realistic details, like the blue light from the monitors. The lighting adds a bit of realism without drawing attention away from anything else.
The composition is also well done, balancing 3 subjects but also making the large containment room/cell a key area of the background, which presumably is where the subject escaped from. Blonde Sable herself looks great in terms of being a clean,Β brightly lit, colorful addition to the image. Her poor partner is also colorful, but not so bright looking (pun not intended, but allowed). I like how Sable's position + pose make use of the actual room/environment. And I'm not gonna lie: it's a very flattering setup for showing her lovely tanned thighs.
The reflection of the spider in the window is a very nice touch. The spider itself is a great and terribly disturbing model with some great textures that I refuse to look at any closer because spiders freak me out. The pose for it also looks very good, though I have no idea and don't actually WANT to know if that's realistic behavior for a spider of any size. The use of webbing, both a large one in the background and more on Cobalt make it creepier and causes the image to sync up with the text written/the scenario being conveyed.
Another nice touch is Cobalt Archer's weapon between her feet and the base of the specimen containment room.
Overall this is a wonderful snapshot of a superhero action moment, telling us at a glance who the important players/giant fear demons are and what is going on or about to happen.
I admit, the 1-5 star ratings that go with this are... not meaningless, but of questionable worth, because I simply don't think along those lines or deal well with numerical scales. A superhero rescuing another superhero from a monster is not "original" but very little ever is - on the other hand I have given a review on how Blonde Sable herself is a great character and visual design, even if Color Animal is a very traditional format for a superhero/superheroine. If you want 5 stars of originality from me you should probably add a bunch of decapitated llamas and a goldfish trying to mate with a comet somewhere, because that's something I have never seen. I would not recommend it though, because what you have created here is something far better than "original:" it is WELL DONE.
So, in conclusion: this is a wonderful image, and I totally hate you for making me look at a giant realistic spider.

I find your reply to be very fair and well articulated. The lighting and the shine on all of the surfaces really taxed my computer on this one. I am glad you liked the image despite the big harry spider in it ... I hate spiders too! And yes spiders will raise their front legs when they feel threatened or trying to threaten other spiders or insects.
I agree it is hard to come up with 'original' ideas for heroine images so your assessment is completely within reason. I really appreciate your kind review of this image!

Dangit, I told you I didn't want to know if that was realistic behavior for them! Now there is even more spider information in my brain than before!
But I am glad you understood what I was trying to say with my review. You are a GREAT artist, and I am a Sable fan.Β

Ew! Spider! *shudder* It's a great render but why did it have to be a spider? It's Summer over here so my bedroom windows are open nearly 24/7. A spider got inside and crawled over me a week or so ago. And this render makes me think there's a few more. Thanks for creeping me out

The genetic experiments wasn't supposed to go like this but a common spider got caught in a tank of bio engineering gel and was mutated to gigantic proportions, the last surviving member of the research team his around the corner as the spider captured and ate her colleagues

Gaaaaaaaah!
...though maybe He/she/it just wants a hug? Sable is very huggable...I suspect she isn't in the hugging mood, more in the 'where are my pocket-size flamethrowers' mood.
That thing is appropriately terrifying, especially for little Sable-wable. I do hope that she has a plan.

ShadowhawkOne In reply to Cracoviia [2018-01-14 19:19:43 +0000 UTC]

Cracoviia In reply to ShadowhawkOne [2018-01-14 20:48:52 +0000 UTC]
Heh heh. There are lots of situations where Sable would do better than Cracovia but this may be more of a job for an indestructible, super-strong, occasionally fire-breathing heroine

Actually ... A fairly good sized wolf spider found its way into the apartment last month. My wife had to kill it while I did indeed sit in the chair, with my legs drawn up, imitating a Girl Scout at a ghost story roundup.
