Description

Sable felt the trigger creep near its breaking point, the barrel of her pistol less than a foot from the man’s head. She had caught up with him less than two miles from the bank he had robbed and shot a female teller. It had been three months since she had started tearing through the criminals of Dream Haven like a sickle through wheat stalks, leaving many of them with lasting physical injuries. However this one… This one she would make an example of to leave a far more lasting impression for the criminals of Dream Haven.

The blur of white and crimson came as a shock to her as her pistol was pulled from her hand. Looking up Sable saw the familiar eagle crest on the costumed chest of her friend and fellow heroine Cracovia. Her shock faded quickly leaving her feeling irritated as she watched the Blonde Bombshell easily apply a head lock on the criminal preventing his escape.

“I had things under control Cracovia. He wasn’t going to escape.”

Cracovia’s expression was hard as she spoke into the ear of the robber. “I heard what you did at the bank. Give me an excuse – any excuse – and I'll break every bone in your body.” Turning towards Sable her expression softened.

“We heard the stories, Sable, but we didn’t want to believe them. We came to help you, kochana[ko-HHAN-a - darling]. Time to give up this vendetta.”

Crossing her arms, she glared back up at her friend. “This isn’t a vendetta… I am teaching these criminals they won’t get away with anything anymore.”

A softer voice spoke behind her. “Your team mates are worried about you.”

Sable spun around quickly to find herself face to face with the concerned face of Felicity 'Fuchsia Fury' Flowers.

“We're worried about you too Sable.” Fuchsia said quietly.

“Fliss?” Sable said as her voice wavered slightly as she bit her lower lip. Both heroines watched as Sable seemed to sag under an enormous invisible weight.

“You didn’t give yourself any time… “ Fuchsia Fury began before she was interrupted by the criminal in her Polish friend's grip.

“Awww… Is the wittle heroine going to crgghhh…. “His words were cut off as he suddenly found it impossible to breathe as Cracovia flexed her arm muscles.

“Want to eat through a straw for the next few months, draniu?” Cracovia hissed in his ear.

Holding open her arms to hug her friend Fuchsia Fury stepped closer and spoke barely above a whisper. “I know you're hurting Samantha. But you have to give up this...crusade or rampage or...I don't know what it is. But I do know that...whatever it is..' The slim, brown-haired heroine shook her head. 'it won’t bring Ellen back.”

Fuchsia could see her words had hit home and watched as the tears quickly filled Sable’s eyes and spilled over her mask and down her cheeks. Sable rushed into her arms and wrapped her own arms around her waist and dropped her head on her shoulder and began to cry.

“They took her from me Fliss… I want her back. I miss her so much.”

As Fuchsia Fury comforted her friend, another pair of eyes watched the exchange through a high powered camera lens. Letting out a sigh they turned away from the screen and dialed a number on their phone. The line picked up after two rings. “There is a problem. Sable was about to cross the line, but she was stopped by Cracovia and Fuchsia Fury.”

There was a period of silence on the line, “They just ruined three months’ worth of work.” They heard the person on the other end exhale in frustration. “Return to the compound, it is time to start phase two.”
