Valerun Galir (veil-roon): monster hunter of the Cold Iron Legion
Valerun at first glance is rather tall and built for a half-elf. He wields a variety of weapons but seems to favor a great sword for felling much larger beasts. Many will recognize his attire as the uniform of the Cold Iron Legion that balances mobility and defense.
His mannerisms are a strange mix of polite formality learned from a young age and a crass, blunt impatience picked up from years of service along side the legions diverse members, as he is just as likely to use training at haggling for beast and carving prices as his strength and size to get what he wants out of a deal.

Those that know this history will notice the iron mask he frequently dons, as the original symbol of the legion deriving from its origin as a band of criminals sent to be executed via monster hunt. The masks were their symbols of shame with their crimes carved into the mask. Executions of this kind continued until a group broke free and escaped their escort. However, one criminal rallied many of the others to stand and fight the beast they were sent to face. After their success, they remained in the area, and the survival rate of the of new criminals increased due to the leadership and coordination of the founder. Gradually they became famous and actually honored for their accomplishments and dedication, as executions of this kind became abolished due to their efforts.
Now, the legion is a completely voluntary band of monster hunters. People have called this group many names over the years, but the "Cold Iron Legion" derives from a mixture of their history as criminals and their unique iron made to regulate temperature regardless of environment thus causing a light mist to fall off their armor in colder hunting grounds and cold to the touch in warmer lands.
Valerun now travels with his sister Vandriel on a new mission though he promises to one day return to the legion that he spent most of his life serving, as he desires to one day lead them.
