Name: Sandy Jade

Citizenship: Formerly of the Delta Pack Diamond Dogs residing outside Trottingham, currently an Equedian citizen in Star's Rest.

Age: Twenty Three Years Old.

Height: Approximately four feet in height.

Weight: It is difficult to gauge but being a traveling musician of little fame to speak of, likely not very much.

Coat: Her coat is a pale gray and very well kept, the natural shine of her soft fur gives her the illusion of being a living pearl statue.

Eyes: A very vibrant and strangely dual toned amethyst that seem to glow faintly as the shades shift in the light.

Orientation: Sandy has liking for males, very much so for a particular stallion.

Skills: Basic Diamond Dog skills of digging and scent tracking, but she is also a master in a skill her mother taught her in finding rhythm and a hidden song in the flows and functions of the living world around her that she calls 'Life Song'. This has made her quite naturally skillful at playing any sort of drum to bring out the rhythms she can feel in her heart and mind. She learned proper speech by lurking and skulking about in Trottingham to listen to ponies converse and picking up many things others in her pack have not.

Personality: Sandy is a very kind and caring canine, however she is a touch rough around the edges and quick to defend herself as she learned in her pack days. She has trouble with self esteem and absolutely adores affection. Though she is very intelligent, she nearly completely uneducated, gleaning everything she knows by social interactions.

Attire: Sandy most often wears a very simple gray dress that her crush bought her, though she does have a small range of simple clothing, primarily two more simple dresses, shorts, a pair of overalls, and two T-shirts, one black and one a sky blue.

Occupation: She was a drummer for a traveling band that played small venues around Equestria, however the band has been broken up recently and she finds herself living with a former member in Equedia where she is unemployed outside of volunteer work at the local school as a teacher's aid.

Orange Band Status: Sandy thought to become an Orangeband so she could feed the young changelings she works with at the school, but the conflicting emotions that center around her love was deemed unhealthy for changelings and thus she was excluded from the program.

History: This is fair warning, the common theme for Equedia is hope, thus many of the characters that gravitate to the newly founded kingdom have some darker origins from the hidden part of the seemingly perfect world around them. Sandy is no different. If you are not comfortable with that, ignore this portion and focus on the following current status. Sandy was like any other diamond dog pup in her pack, though that only lasted for the first few weeks as she began to develop mentally at a far faster rate than her peers. She was always getting into trouble as she always sought to know how and why things worked. Her mother never sought to deter her in her attempts to learn everything she could, much to the dismay of the other mothers in the pack, she was encouraged to do so. Her mother Jade was one of two that never seemed to regard her as a troublesome pup for her exploration and thirst for knowledge. The alpha of her pack seemed to approve of her search for knowledge as well, Often silencing those attempting to berate her in his presence. She never knew who her father was, but she loved her mother dearly, learning from her how to feel the soul and the rhythm of the world around her in what her mother called 'life song' and to mimic that rhythm in singing howls. Her curiosity eventually lead her to sneaking in to the mining town near her pack to see what the ponies did with their lives. She began to learn more words and how they fit together than she could with her pack, which made the town so very alluring to her, despite being run off or even roughly thrown out beyond the borders several times. Though she learned so many words and how to use them properly she was still unaware what they truly meant, only their context in example; insults were insults, compliments were compliments, various levels of expressive words. The adults in her pack never seemed to care about her outside of her mother, and strangely at times, the Alpha. Her peers were very put off by her fancy pony speak and avoided her as much as possible, until she came of age. It was no secret that she was a beautiful diamond dog and only when that aspect of life came about did she ever hear words of praise from her peers. Ever the outcast prior, she began to yearn for those kind words and the feeling of being wanted. Something felt wrong to her however and eventually she realized she could never be happy with her pack. Her mother, Jade, saw this as well and helped her escape the pack territory to take a chance at joining Equestrian society somehow. She met with a seemingly nice dragon and a strangely intense and quiet griffon, named Skiz and Griffter respectively. Her old habits of seeking that feeling she became addicted to followed her as she learned form her companions how to focus her life song into drum beats to help them with their performances. Once Skiz the dragon realized that Sandy was seeking some form of personal comfort and validation from her liaisons, his true colors shined through and he began to take absolute advantage of her fragile damaged self image. Her damaged heart trapped her under the hold of the dragon, with only Griffter's occasional interference to protect her from his abuse. This changed somewhat when a handsome and kind stallion named Cecil joined their traveling band. He was rather pleasant to her and always polite, even when he revealed the ugly truth that with her poor diamond dog hygiene, she was rather unpleasantly fragrant.  Rather than simply telling her she smelled terrible, he taught her how to properly bath and take care of herself so that she was more pleasant to be around. She would find out more about him and he about her as they spent time together, much to the dismay of the band leader, Skiz. Cecil showed her true care and a desire to just settle with her and talk about what ever was on her mind. Unlike Griffter, he was able to express that he cared and in that genuine care for her, Sandy's heart was captured and held so tight. He was not seeking it, but he had her heart and they both knew so. He refused to enter any form of relationship with her or share any intimacy beyond the occasional snuggle or rare kiss on the nose. As he explained, she had been hurt and broken in her life and he would not be one of the ones who hurt her like that, nor would he help her hurt herself. Sandy's beautiful dream nearly crashed down completely when tensions between Cecil and Skiz began to become dangerous, causing the stallion to leave. Though he offered her to come with him, she was very much an abused girl and was afraid to leave what she knew. This parting would not be permanent however, as the band drifted through the portal in Ponyville to try their luck in Star's Rest for new venues. That was where Sandy was reunited with Cecil to find he had become one of the two Captains of the Equedian Defense Corps, alongside his changeling partner. There was a misunderstanding between her and a unicorn named Silky Notes over her jealous belief that the mare was after the stallion she loved. The one sided rivalry for Cecil's affections lead Sandy to learn the truth that the unicorn was not at all interested in Cecil, or stallions for that matter and even budded a friendship between the diamond dog and the highborn musician. Cecil admittedly took advantage of that situation to attempt to show Sandy the kind of life she could have if she were free of the possessive hold of her abusive band leader. The day she finally had enough and found herself brought to Cecil by a failed attempt to feed her self esteem in the only way she knew, Sandy broke and begged him to make her torment stop. She learned then that he had been waiting all their time together for her to ask to be free before stepping in. The brave guard captain set off to directly challenge Skiz for Sandy's freedom in a short but fierce battle that brought her situation to the attention of Prince Jenner and Princess Shadow at the cost of starting the fight on his own record. Skiz was exiled from Equedia all together.

Current Status: Sandy now lives in a newly purchased home with Cecil, where she has her own room and is not asked for any financial responsibility for food or rent. She does ensure the house is clean as a thanks to her brave handsome savior. Their relationship with one another is very complicated as they are not officially a couple, he refuses to enter that sort of relationship with her. Sandy understands that he does love her very deeply, and in that manner, but he knows he is not right for her because of the damages they both have suffered in life. She needs to learn to stand on her own paws and be her own diamond dog before she can think of being in such a bond with another. He has a need for solitude stemming from being bullied as a colt that leaves him unable to devote every waking moment to making her feel like the princess she truly is and deserves to feel like. Their stand off frustrates many of their friends as it is very clear that they are a flawless match, but they know the truth. Love means caring for and about the one they love, not about possessing them or even sharing every form of intimacy. Sandy has been introduced to the changelings and foals of the school under the teaching guidance of Kirrian Windthresh, the kind and gentle drake with close ties to the princess of Equedia. She has volunteered as a teacher's aid to help the little ones remain on good behavior and even offer insight into how to respect themselves and others. Sandy also attends therapy sessions to address her mental and emotion scars from her past. Things are going well and she is a much more confident and increasingly better educated young diamond dog woman. After a discussion with Silky and Cecil, she has taken her mother's name as her family name, leaving her as Sandy Jade to the ponies and changelings around her.

Nice character, and I love her story. It didn't matter for her that she was uneducated, but her interest in other species that dogs with the support of her mother helped her to have a better live now.
