Description Kersti from Paper Mario: Sticker Star, In a paper style as opposed to her shiny sticker texture.

Recently got Sticker Star. In my opinion, it's better than what I expected. However, I feel like it is not up to par with the previous installments. It breaks my heart that there are no partners, besides Kersti. Also, I HATE how much they changed the combat. The sticker system is tedious, annoying, and completely unnecessary. Still a good looking game with nice dialogue and character design.

The Paper Mario game without partners reminds me like the Mario and Luigi series. Paper Mario Sticker Star is not like Paper Mario without partners.

Well, she looks pretty cute! I haven't liked Kersti so much before i got the game, but she is nice, different from a "Princess". However, i like that game, i don't know why some people don't like it. Still, it is annoying when you are peeling off a rare megaflash sticker and here. It. Comes. Annoying Spikes, Hammer, Fire, Boomerang and Ice Bros., between others.

People didn't like it because it is a watered down version of the original two games.

The sticker system was tedious and shouldn't have made you use stickers for the jump and hammer attacks.

The other stickers were cool since they acted more like traditional items, but your main two attacksΒ

were basically limited to the point that it became laborious to collect so many of the same boot and hammer stickers

instead of leaving room for collecting the interesting and larger stickers.

It is now my second favorite paper mario game. The sticker system makes things more challenging, but not as challenging as the wii. Kersti made it great, as she now ranks very high as my few favorite mario characters. She went from me wanting to smack her with a hammer to wanting to hug her in the end. Love the picture.

I disagree, but even if that were true, what is wrong with that?
And how different can you really draw a crown in the paper universe?

ConnallRobotnik8 In reply to ShadowLifeman [2012-11-30 20:47:51 +0000 UTC]

Add things around the rim of the crown? Place a sparkly thing like a Starbit on the three ends? I dunno, something unique.

ShadowLifeman In reply to ConnallRobotnik8 [2012-11-30 20:53:49 +0000 UTC]

I think a living, sassy crown was an interesting character to add
to the paper universe. If they would have developed the the character
more within a more interesting story, then that would have been
great. But the design overall is solid and simple. I don't think I did
the original art any justice with my piece.

I haven't played the game myself yet, but I've watched some video footage of it on Youtube, including that of the final boss, and I have to say that this game turned out to be a complete disappointment. In fact, I'm so disappointed in it (along with all the New Super Mario Bros. rehashes) that I'm about this close to just giving up on the series entirely. I've tried to be as open-minded about this game as I possibly could, but the more things I learned about it, and the more video footage I saw, I found myself getting less and less excited about it.

This game, in my opinion, is an absolute slap in the face, due to the fact that they went out of their way to remove so many things that made the series so great in the first place (after they had originally presented the game as a welcome-back return to the original formula). It's like they've completely forgotten what this series is all about, and this is coming from someone who thoroughly enjoyed Super Paper Mario (and has beaten it several times). Sticker Star doesn't even have half the charm that the first three Paper Mario games had.

ConnallRobotnik8 In reply to SolarBlaze [2012-11-30 19:48:36 +0000 UTC]

Let's just say it's not a Paper Mario RPG.

Of even an RPG.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SolarBlaze In reply to ConnallRobotnik8 [2012-11-30 20:00:38 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. As far as I'm concerned, that game is "Paper Mario" in name and graphical style only.

Oh, and recently, there was an Iwata Asks that got into even more detail about Miyamoto's desecration of the series. Apparently, while the game was in development, he thought that game was too similar to Thousand-Year Door, so he made them change it, and yet all these New Super Mario Bros. rehashes aren't so much as given a second glance by him. What a hypocrite.

Do you want to know what the saddest part of this whole thing is, though? The sales for Sticker Star are most likely going to be off the charts, and Nintendo is going to continue churning out more garbage like this. They might not go with the Sticker crap again, exactly, but they're most likely bound to do something just as bad, or possibly even worse, ruining the series even further.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ConnallRobotnik8 In reply to SolarBlaze [2012-11-30 20:06:37 +0000 UTC]

Miyamoto is going insane, I swear. If he thinks leading the New Super Mario infection towards other Mario franchises (Mario Party, Paper Mario), making them worse as he goes, is a good thing, then he's obviously deluding his ol' brain out.

Ohh, I know. It's always about money with Nintendo, selling half-hearted and intentionally-bland video-games (Just take a look at Kid Icrirus: Uprising). I wouldn't be surprised if they reuse every single New Super Mario aspect in the Yoshi's Island series, now.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SolarBlaze In reply to ConnallRobotnik8 [2012-11-30 21:15:59 +0000 UTC]

According to the interview, Miyamoto made that decision based on a Club Nintendo survey, where less than 1% of the voters thought the storyline in Super Paper Mario was interesting. I mean, seriously. WTF? Sure, there are people who often complain about that game being different from the other two, but at the same time, that game still has a pretty huge fanbase. The people on that survey do not speak for the entire fandom, contrary to what Miyamoto believes.

About the Yoshi's Island subject, there's a rumor going around about a new one being in development for the Wii U. It's under the working title of "Yoshi's Land". I, too, won't be surprised if that ends up going down the same path as all the other New Super Mario Bros. rehashes. That's pretty much what Capcom has been doing with just about every Mega Man game they've released over the past few years, where they feel that every game has to be like that overrated Mega Man 2.

ConnallRobotnik8 In reply to SolarBlaze [2012-11-30 22:59:27 +0000 UTC]

Oh, gawd. I'm imagining it...Yoshi's Island world maps, traced with blue or red spaces. The world's having the same, dull themes. Baby Bowser being Bowser Jr. without the bandana. Yoshis playing almost exactly as they do in the New Super Mario games.

The music being reused!

SolarBlaze In reply to ConnallRobotnik8 [2012-11-30 23:14:48 +0000 UTC]

I could definitely see that happening. Even Donkey Kong Country Returns wasn't exempt from this, since it also used the same type of map that the New Super Mario Brothers games have.

Also, it was supposedly Miyamoto's bright idea for the K. Rool and the Kremlings to be left out of that game, and yet you don't see him doing that with Bowser and the Koopa Troop in the Mario platformers.

SolarBlaze In reply to ConnallRobotnik8 [2012-11-30 23:51:40 +0000 UTC]

Too bad that's the only thing about them that was interesting. In my opinion, at least. I absolutely hated the Tikis. I tried to be as open-minded about them as possible when the game was released, but I just could not find anything about them that was likeable. I personally found them to be very bland, boring, and uninteresting characters that served no purpose other than to replace the Kremlings. They were a major kick in the nuts.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ConnallRobotnik8 In reply to SolarBlaze [2012-11-30 23:55:02 +0000 UTC]

Oh, yes. That was pretty much their only purposive, as replacements. I guess their final boss theme was just a shimmering spec on a large statue of stupid.
Speaking of which, I heavily wish that they don't make a fourth Mario & Luigi game. Heaven knows what the head of Nintendo would think up with his conrades to make up another misguided idea.

SolarBlaze In reply to ConnallRobotnik8 [2012-12-01 00:24:22 +0000 UTC]
