Description
Following a trek through a deep forest, Mario and company come across the village. Near the entrance, they encounter a trio of Dazyees. The Amazy Dayzee speaks.
Amazy Dayzee: “Hello, and welcome to Ancient Oak Village. Or, that’s what I’d like to say, but now probably isn’t the best time to visit.”
The Whittles behind Mario emerge and jump into the conversation.
Chippy: “It’s ok! They’re here to help! This is Mario of the Mushroom Kingdom. Hero of the Princess.”
Crayzee Dayzee: “R-really? You think he can beat Whomper?
Chippy: “Of course! Right Mario?”
They all look to Mario. Though slightly confused, Mario nods.
Scarlette: “I mean, yes we will help, but can you give us some more details? Last time I was here, there wasn’t anyone names ‘Whomper’ here.”
Chippy: “Yes, of course. It all started a few months ago. Everything was fine one day, but then suddenly, a dark cloud approached the forest and with it came a gang of Wollops and Ptooies invaded our village. They started stealing from our shops and setting up tents in front of the Great Oak Temple.”
Scarlette: “The TEMPLE?! Did they go inside?!”
Chippy: “N-no. I mean, they went into the entrance chamber, but they couldn’t get past the sealed door.”
Scarlette: “O-oh. O-of course. I’m the only one who knows how to open it after all. Ha ha…”
Sapphire: “Annnyyyways, back to the matter at hand. So, say we DO help you out with your little ‘pest’ problem. What are you going to do for us?”
Scarlette: “SAPPHIRE! We are NOT doing this for a reward. Mario is a selfless hero. Plus, we NEED to get inside the Temple, so we need to get past this Whomper character and his goonies.”
Sapphire: “Goody-goody.” Sapphire pouts.
Scarlette: “So, if you’ll excuse us, we’d like to see this Whomper.”
The villagers lead Mario and company to the entrance of the Temple. As they said, there are tents set up in front of a giant tree. Guards seem to be posted outside the entrance into the tree’s base. Not missing a beat, Scarlette charges up to them.
Scarlette: “WHAT do you think you’re DOING here?! Don’t you know this is a sacred place?”
Ptooie Guard 1: “Whoa lady, calm down. We don’t gotta answer to you.”
Ptooie Guard 2: “Yeh. Plus, we don’t want no one snoopin’ round here. The boss wouldn’t be too happy ‘bout that. Especially with him fussin’ around tryin’ to smash that door open.”
Ptooie Guard 1: “Can it leaf-brain. Don’t givin’ out unnecessary information.”
Scarlette: “SMASH THE DOOR?!” Scarlette staggers backwards. “Oooohhh, the great Star Spirits are going to KILL me.”
Sapphire: “Listen Reds, calm yourself. We can handle these chumps.”
Mario and his friends defeat the two guards. After things quite down a bit, a groaning voice interrupts the silence from behind a tent.
???: “Uuuugggh. Wwwwhhaat is all this noooiisseee…”
A Whittle wearing a pink sleeping cap and hugging a pillow peaks her head around the corner of a tent.
???: “I’m trrrryyyying to sleeeeeeep…”
Scarlette: “We don’t have TIME for this! We need to get to the Temple and get rid of this threat.”
???: “Reeeaally? You’ll get rid of these noooiiisey people? Then I can sleep all I waaaaannt… I’ll heeeeeelllp…”
Sapphire: “Uh, really girly? You think you can be of help in battle in your state of mind?
???: “Of coooouuurseee. If it means I can sleeeeepp. My name’s Wil…………”
Scarlette: “Umm, pardon?”
???: “Willllll………”
Sapphire: “HEY! Don’t fall ASLEEP!”
Willa: “Oh, sooooorrryy. My name is Willa. I’m a Whittle from this village. And I love to sleeeeep. I’ll help you get past the guards and lead you to my faaaavorite sleeping spot, the Temple entrance chamber. It’s so quiiieeeet in there.”
Scarlette: “Oh, ok… Wait, you SLEEP in the sacred Temple?! Why I nev-“
Sapphire: “Ok, that’s enough. Let’s go Mario.”
The Whittle, Willa joins your party! With her drowsy demeanor, she can put enemies to sleep, which helps Mario sneak past them without even having to fight! Her powers can even be use in battle, and with her assortment of bedtime weapons, she is a force to be reckoned with.
After entering the camp and weaving their way through guard after guard, they finally make it inside the Temple. There they find a giant Wollop pounding away at what seems to be a door.
Scarlette: “Hey you delinquent! Stop defacing the Temple!
Whomper: “Eeeeeehh? What’d you say you runt? You got a bone to pick with me?
Scarlette: “Y-you don’t scare me.”
Whomper: “Hey, how’d you get in here anyways? Don’t tell me YOU defeated my guards? Well, you ain’t getting’ past me. I need to get in this here Temple to get the Garden Star, or whatever, for the Boss.”
Scarlette: “Boss? Whom are you working for?”
Whomper: “Enough talk. I’m gonna smash you!”
After a log battle, Mario and company defeat Whomper and his remaining lackies.
Scarlette: “W-we won…”
Sapphire: “Haha! Yeah! I gotta admit, you and Willa really held your own against that giant pile of rubble, Reds.”
Willa: “Weeeellll, what now Mariooooo? Are we going to open the doooooorrr now?”
Scarlette: “Yes, of course. Mario, please hold the Guardian Orb up to the door. It should open.”
Mario takes out the orb and does as the Star says. The orb starts to glow and a beam of light projects itself onto the door with an image of a red star. With a loud rumble, the doors grind open and reveal the entrance. Our heroes are now able to progress and take on the first Guardian Trial!

Next up is our first Guardian Trial. I am very excited.
I heavily based Willa's personality on Plutia from Hyperdimension Neptunia V. And if you know her character, you know about her.. alternate personality. Willa will also be taking on that dual personality at times in this story.

Honestly, wouldn't get your hopes up. Not for a while at least. I'm more likely to do more one-off scenes with no story attached rather than more chapters.
