B-384 SNIPER BLADEgot this idea out of the blue while working on my mecha design (currently i have the standard one complete, still working on the heavy weapons one). it's a assault/sniper rifle inside a very large blade. I figured on a duel system, since there is only so much ammo. when the ammo's finished, the weappon is still combat effective (although, since mecha are made of metal or various composites, the sword is more like a bludgeon with an edge, but hey, at speed, it'll still do damage).
I don't know what the range would be, since i still haven't figured out what a scaled up version would be able to achieve. I know the know the new .50 cal sniper rifles can disembowl a man at about a mile... and then he hears the shot. I'm hoping for something like that, but farther away.

really? huh. i just got the idea out of the blue one day, playing with shapes and idea's. i've never even seen gundam 00, just a few of the mechs on MAHQ.net

Yeah. I remember seeing this on here before Gundam 00, but when I saw it again I was surprised how similar it looked.

Ah. I see what you mean. i think the main difference here (and the veiw i didn't draw) is that the whole weapon is very thin (the idea was a small (well for a mecha) caliber that is inside the blade so that it is a dual purpose weapon (i think i stated it so that when the ammo is done, it's still a usable weapon instead of a hunk of metal you have to carry around. 'Usable weight' if you will.) I will most likely redraw or rethink this design (mostly just the more technical stuff) and also include more veiws, such as top and front, as well as an inner veiw so that everyone can see how the weapon is laid out.
