Why did I create this monster?
Because the world can't always be filled with beautiful things.
-------------------------------------------------------
Extended information on the Tartarus:
Tartarus are revolting creatures, who did not exist prior to the wars. All Tartarus come into existence as a Diris. The Diris serves as the brain/eye/and heart of the creature. In this form, they are extremely vulnerable and will perish within hours if a host is not claimed. A Tartarus begins to form once a Diris has possessed its first body (living or deceased). Young Tartarus prefer corpses, as they have no mind of their own, thus a Diris will not have to contend against their will for control. Living prey is preferred however, as the Diris can control their rate of decomposition, keeping them alive longer, and providing fresher body materials.
As the host is dissolved, its physical body becomes part of the Tartarus’s cloak of sludge and decay. A Diris is dependent on its cloak of filth, and will starve to death without its sustenance.
Their mind control capabilities are limited, in that they must be in contact with the entity they wish to possess, meaning both their cloak and Diris are physically touching the host.
If the host body proves to be valuable a Diris will not consume it, preferring instead to puppet it into creating more corpses for it to feast upon.
There are whispers of a Tartarus so powerful its gaze alone can possess you… Nobody living has yet to validate these claims. (tbc)
------------------------------------------------------
-The more corpses a Tartarus has consumed, the bigger it becomes, and the stronger it’s mind control is.
- Its hide will absorb and ultimately try to consume any and all weapons.
-Magic has an intoxicating effect.
-Attacking a Tartarus’s living host does not bother it. It simply makes the host easier to control once it is dead.
-None-
-A direct hit to the Diris will kill it, (No drop is given for this method). You cannot pierce the Diris through the sludge, you must wait for it to surface.
-The Diris feeds off of the filth it creates. Separating it from its oozing cloak leaves it starving for more decay…
-----------------------------------------------------
Additional Thoughts:
Every monster I create has one terminal weakness, and a variety of ways to extort it. Hints are provided throughout the text. It is not necessary to know their weakness to destroy them-it just makes it faster/easier.
Please do not 'God-Mod' the monsters. If your character has never encountered one before, how exactly DOES he know so much about them? Use your characters innate attributes and abilities to your advantage :3
While I know its fun to play savior, it often makes for a fast showy mess where nobody else gets to play.
(That and its not fair for the monster. They have ravenous bloodthirsty feelings too ya' know?)
Please Enjoy,
and don't hesitate to present me with questions if any. I am happy to elaborate on any and all creatures I upload.
