Description

While Cesar and Ragnarök fought in the courtyard, another battle between good and evil was being fought inside Marina.

When Marina fell unconscious, she found herself transported to the courtyard of the Guardian Stronghold. While she was guessing what happened, someone else appeared. To Marina’s surprise, it was herself.

But this other Marina had red irises and was smiling evilly. Without warning, she attacked with a sword, forcing Marina to defend herself with another sword she found nearby.

During the fight, her evil twin explained what was going on: this place was Marina’s mind and she was a magic avatar of the Corruption that was slowly taking over Marina. The young guardian watched in fear how her surroundings were slowly crumbling in to dust.

Marina fought with everything she got but she was losing. Her attacks were weakening while her antagonist got stronger with each passing moment.

Eventually, Marina was too weak to keep fighting. The Corruption laughed and sent her to the ground. Marina couldn’t stand up again.

The Corruption laughed again. “I win! You will be destroyed and I’ll take over your body! The staff’s master will have a new servant and you will be no more!”

Marina gulped. “N-no! Y-you can’t win!”

“Really? Look around you! Our surroundings have been destroyed, which means your mind is ready for me to take over! And look at the sword I’m wielding: it’s your sword! And that means your end is at hand!”

With a swift motion, the Corruption stroke at the sword held by Marina. The young Guardian watched in horror how her sword broke near the hilt.

“No, no!” Marina was terrified. When she became a Guardian, she accepted that she could die in battle. But one thing was to face an enemy in a fight with her fellow Guardians alongside her and another was to die completely alone and helpless to defend herself.

“Help! Mother, Sayira, help! Somebody, anybody, help me!”

The Corruption laughed. “Pathetic! You scream in terror like a child. It’s time to finish this!”

The Corruption raised her sword, ready to give the fatal blow to Marina, who could only rose what was left of her sword in the hope that it could block the incoming attack.

In that moment, her sword began to shine and change its shape. The Corruption stopped her attack, confused. The light became stronger until nothing else could be seen.

Don’t be afraid.
