I heard our song today,
Well,
You never knew,
But I always thought of it as ours.

You would have been proud,
I got up the courage to let it all out,
Without,
You holding my hand.

I long to see you tonight,
For you to lead me out of the Darkness,
And into the Light.
You were my savior you know,
How cliche is that?

I can almost hear your laugh,
Teasing the faintest edge,
Of my conscience.
Sitting on your bed,
Across from mine,
In that ridiculous,
Tiny, apartment,
We shared.

I'm wrapped tightly in that blanket of yours,
It still smells like you,
I think I'll cry again.

I hate myself,
I should have told you,
How much I loved you.

I wonder if you ever suspected...

I'll keep guessing for awhile,
Do my best to smile,
Because you would have wanted that.

The years flew by:
I finished school,
Did what you always wanted me to do,
And got published.
