Chapter Twenty-Four: Questioning FidelityCaleb stood there his eyes flashing between Ophelia and Lucian; they both stood as examples of his life, one his best friend. Someone who had been there for three years at the most, someone he met soon after joining Erotic Nightshade, the other his 'pet' and yes he used the term loosely because he realized he didn't have any control over her. He stepped back and let his emotions drop; looking to Demeter he said
"Well this isn't what I imagined at all"
She gave a nod, "Neither did I, but such is life Caleb"
The other two stood down, they got their clothes from the basement as Demeter and Caleb settled on to the couch. As they came up Lucian took the chair a little far away from Caleb, as Ophelia stood in the midst of this she was torn. On one hand she had a man she did have a tremendous respect for and who had taken her in; on the other was the man who had pleasured her for several months. She finally decided just to sit in the middle of the room her head bowed and hands on her lap in a submissive nature. It seemed for the best.
Caleb shifted in the chair and was the first to break the silence that had come over everyone, "So here we sit, caught red handed in lies"
"Yes, sir" Ophelia mumbled out
"I don't know what to say kitten",
"You could tell me how you got those marks", she mumbled out disgruntled
"Well I think you know how I got them dear; they came from the very hands that punished you not too long ago. I make no qualms about it; I'm in a bind. I love you I really do but we've been slipping away for months now, we can't deny it"
"No we can't sir. I am sorry"
"Sorry for what? We're both to blame" he said looking from her lover to his, "I don't know how I displeased you…"
"You didn't….you're just, I'm just; god I don't know master!"
"No need to raise your voice dear", he sighed, "if you had told me the truth maybe we wouldn't be in this place"
She nearly screamed, "What about you?! How long have you been sleeping with her?"
"This is true, but we need to figure something out, Elia calm yourself."
"I….yes, sir" she seemed to breath out a heavy amount of anger and sat there, waiting.
"I honestly don't know what we could do or what we should do" he looked to Demeter, "I am no master, as much as you are my pet"
"But, what no master just no" the tears seemed to form even though she expected this, she almost yearned for it but the truth of the matter was that he was safe, he gave her what she needed while not being too much. It almost broke her heart
She had no clue what it was doing to him, he was damn near on the verge of crying inside as he said the words that came out of his mouth, "I release you Ophelia"
It was as if the whole room exploded, Demeter kept her calm but Lucian was on his feet, "What?!" he came closer to him "She gave you a year and a half of service and you toss her aside for one discretion?"
Caleb looked into his friends eyes "Really, you want to tell me another lie?"
Lucian sat down cowed by his response; obviously they weren't dealing with who they thought they were. Gone were his blinders, as he thought back on the actions of both Lucian and Ophelia, this bypass came as no surprise to him. Lucian had shown particular interest in Ophelia for a long time, he was just too damned blinded to see it; now sitting here he felt stupid. He didn't know how long it had been going on nor did it matter for that reason but it had been going on for long enough. The answers lay in front of him and he did all he could to hold in his anger, his frustration everything was on the verge of coming apart
"Lucian" he said calmly "please take her from my sight"
"Yes, Caleb" Lucian got up to take Ophelia who was now crying silently out of the house
"Oh and" Caleb said with a tiny sob coming from his mouth, 'Leave the collar"
Ophelia reached up feeling the fine leather that had been worked specifically for her, she almost didn't do it but knew there was no reason to hide it any more, she undid the clasp slowly and laid it at Caleb's feet then turned to leave with Lucian in tow.
As soon as they had left Caleb picked up the collar and held it in his hands and started to cry; Demeter catching him she said "There there it's going to be ok, you know this is for the best"
His only answer was more tears.

It's odd, but I feel like he's MORE in control now, not less.
