GENERAL:
The Verak System is a star system in the Fringe Territories of the United Nations, known for the planet of Dasimov, the star system is small, compact and has a lot of asteroid belts towards the outside of the system. The closest of these belts, the Reknak Belt, is a dense, asteroid full belt known to share the same orbit as the only gas giant, Planet Reknak, the Reknak Belt is also home to the large mining colony known as Veran Station. Veran Station is a large mining space station under the control of the International Colonial Guard, providing the material resources needed to keep their military afloat.

Verak is the name of the local star, a very dim yellow dwarf that isn't very volatile. Iy's habitable zone is much closer to the star than Venus' orbit is to Sol. Verak is so tame for a star that the closest planet, Relak, is still a mostly rocky world inhospitable to life and not burning and covered in lava. But the gravitational tensions between the two has caused significant seismic activity on the planet.

Verak first discovered by the James Webb Space Telescope once it was safe to launch it in the late 21st Century. Over the course of centuries as FTL tech was refined and perfected, the first colony ships were sent in March of 2790, but were soon abandoned by January of 2810.

Relak is the closest planet to Verak, hot on one side, cold on the other, Relak is tidally locked to its star and experiences strong earthquakes and volcanis eruptions. Although relak is very close to its star, that hasn't stopped mining companies from establishing mining operations close to the terminator line and the nighttime side of the planet, as the day side is too hot for any equipment to be used.

Reknak is the local Gas Giant, located in the Reknak Asteroid Belt, almost entirely made of hydrogen gas and carbon dioxide, Reknak is a hotspot for Hydrogen mining and refining, collected by collectors dropped in from space on huge cables durable enough to take on the ruthless winds and storms that permeate the planet. Reknak also is very warm, with temperatures almost perfect for life due to the high amounts of carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere. Reknak also has regular meteor showers, which poses a risk for any hydrogen refineries. Luckily most refineries and hydrogen collection facilities are designed to have early warning systems and RCS modules to move out of the way ahead of time, for any close encounters they have laser Point Defence Cannons, which are also handy against pirates.
