If you haven't read Stephen King's fantasy novel series The Dark Tower yet, please do so.  1) It's his best yet; they're sure to offer you something good to look forward to.  2) Marten Broadcloak/Walter O'Dim, revealed and introduced after reading the first 4 books, is a semblance of how I think Infinite should have been written.

Or start off reading The Dark Tower: Beginnings, the five-volume prequels, then continue with The Gunslinger - The Journey Begins onward if A) You've read the first 4 novels [parts of the series are revealed as backstories in The Gunslinger and Wizard and Glass], or B) You'd rather just read the comics.
