The biggest question I've had since getting back into the fandom is this:

Arnold, due to the Hey Arnold Movie, now knows that Helga loves him. Although they agreed to pretend that nothing happened, neither one of them will ever forget it.

Bearing this info in mind, what if Arnold evaluated his feelings over time (say, it took him till high school), and came to realize what a great person she was...

What would happen if he realized he loved her back? How would he react? And what about Helga, especially when it comes to her utterly delightful bully shield?

My guess is that it would go something like this:

"Move it or lose it, Bucko!" she grumbled as she elbowed her attacker in the side, before turning to face him. Abruptly she froze, eyes inches from her beloved's face. And he was...smiling. A very frightening smile.

Despite everything, despite the fascade that was tightly cacooned about her, she faltered.

"Ar-Football Head! You scared the pants off of me! What do you think you're doing?"

The love of her life's smile widened, and a mischievous glint shone from the depths of his eyes. One she hadn't seen since the fourth grade April Fools Dance, "I was wondering if we could talk for a few minutes, Helga. You don't mind, do you?"

"T-talk? You've gotta be kidding me!"

"No, Helga, I'm not," he answered as his arm tightened about her shoulder. An awkard position from where he stood, several inches shorter than her own lanky height. Regardless, he held his ground, bringing her closer to the firm weight of his chest. Allowing her to lean over him, his hair just seconds away from her face, senses immediately going into overdrive.

Just as abruptly reality slapped her in the face, waking her from the dream she was in. Arnold was just her friend; he'd said so himself more times than she could count. While he might have his arm around her, it couldn't be for romantic reasons.

And she was still taller than him. Just one more thing she could add to the list of facts she couldn't change, curse it all.

"Whatever floats your boat, Football Head."

Arnold and Helga are trademark figures of Craig Bartlett and Nickelodeon...which I can never seem to spell right. Argh. Anyway, they own 'em.

(P.S. I hate the hands, but love Helga's form. I decided on a whim that perhaps she should remain "all legs" up until adulthood. With humerous results. Expression is based on Sh.'s trademark "Excuse Me?" look. And I believe Helga is probably the only one that can pull off being a bully, and the most feminine girl in school at the same time. =^__^= )
