Gorgeous. I love the composition and the strong contrast. It looks as though the light is coming from the center of the flower (although it sort of seems like that's the point, but I could be wrong).

...wtf do i know about light? ...it *actually* does look like that. like what i'm seeing. i can't imagine how. yet. the focus; the softness really adds to the effect, doesn't it. i would never want to see the colour version - that would ruin 'this' for anyone. 'this' being the act of appreciation. a thing that struck me as odd was the layer of light behind the stem. the stem glows from backlight. especially at the base of the flower. so, it looks like you're getting reflection from the backdrop to do that. ...it just keeps hitting me that the light really looks like it's coming 'from' the flower - the tips of the petals are even dark... i'll figure this out. *sigh* flowers are so hard to take pictures of when you're outside. perhaps a controlled room is the place for them. *scratches head* ...wtf do i know about light?

Thanks for the comment! This was taken on my dining room table with a black bristol board and a flashlight. This is actually how it turned out. I wish I could tell you exactly how the lighting was and such, but all it was was I told my mom to hold the flashlight and where to point it and took the picture. I'm very glad you like it!
