Description
This inking is done again with a marker pen instead of computer inking just to see the effect, and to speed up producing a Go-Bee comic-ah!!!!!!!Related content

MARKER PEN is just as BAD-A$$! That, along with your coloring skillz. What a GREAT combo.

This has to be my favourite picture of Go-Bee you have ever done. I really should colour that fan art I did but I am so terribly lazy..... If you ever fancy taking a whack at it let me know and I will send you the lines

That looks good, keep at it, but hand-inking is always best with India Ink & crowquill & sable brushes. Rapidographs might work if your into pens. India ink is much better than felt markers, but I use both methods, and the computer. I prefer crowquill or rapidograph, but that really takes forever. It really works for cross-hatching, but that might not work for your style. I don't see much cross-hatching in what you do. I'd also suggest experimenting with different line variations, it would add more dimension.

yeah I use brushes and india ink, I really like the effect but I have some way to go mastering it. I sometimes do cross hatching, I just haven't with Go-Bee I just kept it stark and colourful.

Whatever you're doing, it works very well. And, yeh, you have quite a ways to go to master it. I'm not that great of an inker myself, but I'm not a bad inker either. Inking is tough, but, personally, I love doing it.

I've been going out of my way to not ink my work...
so I have to give it up for 'hand-inking'.
Hmmmmm... Looks like it's time for more fan art.

I don't ink my work, normally. That cute little girl in my avatar was one of the last pics I inked. Outside of that, comic pages are the only things I ink now. Soon I hope to stop inking them as well.

The colour scheme is so vibrant and in-your-face--it catches the eye very well; the magenta background isn't distracting and really puts emphasis on the blue/yellow/orange/green scheme of Go-Bee. The hand-inking looks fantastic too; I'd kill to be able to make clean lines like that with a pen! Awesome pin-up!

Hey, I LOVE real inking. I really enjoy looking at a picture and imagining how the lineart was done. Plus, it proves more talent than tablet "inking". Many thumbsup for that decision.

I say it definetely works! It's not as smooth as the pen tool, but it sure adds to it in my opinion. The image looks way more natural than with the pen tool.

This is a nice change for you...though, honestly, Go-Bee always looks good regardless of the media. I didn't know that you were inking all your stuff on the computer...it always looked more solid than computer-only art.
I take it you pencil out the original pages, and then work on top of them? Instead of drawing the entire piece on the 'puter?

shaneoid77 In reply to jheermann [2006-04-21 23:49:30 +0000 UTC]
yeah Go-Bee started out as an experiment to learn myself how to do computer inking, as it goes. Yep I do the pencils and then scan and ink/colour. From now on tho I'll do the inking by traditional methods too

I think it looks great! Very dynamic and eye-catching. In fact, it was your colors that first grabbed my attention when I saw a thumbnail of the old comic. This looks just as vibrant, and it really works with the new style, so I say, go for it!

thanks bud, I had to tone down the colouring as it would have just taken far too long to do computer inking and big colours. Hopefully I can get the best of both worlds now
