maybe the flying fox is asking for a place to stay? since flying in bad weather is hard (looks like a storm is coming in). I will leave it to your mind to imagine just how hard I SQEEed when I saw the flying fox XD one of my fav bats made literal! hah! Love this piece and love the detail, especially in the tree.

Thank you! I ADORE flying foxes too! They have the prettiest wingspan, it's so sad I couldn't get it right X[ I need better ref for my lighting before I can figure it out D:>

ya the lighting for bat wings can be tricky since it is just a sheet or skin more or less, unless its flexed just so it doesn't have a lot of depth.

It's the specular that was throwing me. I really need a closer photo in overcast weather to see how it's really affected by light. I haven't see a fox bat in person in years I barely remember.

They're so cool! Their wings are giant. Easily my fav bats besides fruit bats.

Funny, I was just looking up pictures of bats last night, one of them being the flying fox. What a coincidence!

Lovely picture, by the way. I have yet to understand how you continuously put out great painting so frequently.

From your pic here, the 'bear' looking thing actually looks like a Brush Tail Possum. It fits with the Australian theme of the Flying Fox here. Not sure if that's what you were meaning to draw, though... Really nicely done! <3 I love the soft shading.
